  1. I don't miss not having sky sports news one bit. What a load of old shite that channel is and especially on transfer deadline day with White and Craig whittering on.
  2. The old cliche but he really will be like a new signing if he can stay fit. Great technique
  3. The clubs policy has worked up until this point and I for one am glad we're not just signing anybody on silly fees/wages as we're seeing with some other clubs. We might get lucky with injuries but the proof will be in the pudding of the volume of games........we haven't strengthened where we needed to and we're only a few injuries away from a crisis in some areas. I feel we've missed the boat to back up the momentum gained last season. Considering the amount we've shifted off the wage bill a net spend of 3m up until this point simply isn't good enough but to be honest I'm not that wound up as I'm not really that surprised. The club has it's stance on signings/transfers and its not about to change.
  4. Should have enough in the locker to take these considering they've had a poor start. Be good to go into the international break off the back of a solid, home win.
  5. The benefit of being in Europe is that the likes of Obertan will get more playing time and hopefully build some confidence. Just watched the first half from last night and he looked pretty decent.
  6. Ofcourse we don't know all the full details of the transfers but the fact of the matter is "so far" apart from Anita they've clearly failed to nail their key transfer targets. How they think we can have a strong run in Europe, maintain top 6-7 form in the league and have FA and League cup runs without strenghthening in key positions is beyond me.
  7. I'm not that fussed about Carroll but I am very worried about the striker situation. It'll be ridiculous if we come out of the transfer window with Ba, Cisse and only Shola on the books.
  8. That would be ironic wouldn't it, to sign in time for the Vile match As others have said this could be a last few hours of the window job. I'm not that confident that we'll change our stance enough to get him but Liverpool are that desperate to get rid that you never know.
  9. There are some ridiculous over reactions on here as frustrating as it is.
  10. And it's going to be to the complete detriment of the team of people continually use the lad as a focal point for all disappointment, rage, abuse etc. He's what we've got at the moment and I just hope the fans don't give him "unneccessary" stick the whole time.
  11. Lille Chairman is never going to sell to us. Simpson isn't the best (stating the obvious) but he's a decent professional and far from the worst full back around. Santon can cover right back, Anita can cover left back, Perch/Raylor can cover RB & LB, Tavernier/Ferguson maybe options.. Maybe not the greatest backups but I'd say if we're only going to bring one player in striker has probably become more important. Shola is constantly injuried and the Dembas will be off to the ACON in Jan so we definitely need another body in that department.
  12. I'd love to see us get a couple of solid signings over the line, even one more. As the days go by I just feel more pessimistic about our chances even though I lost interest in most of the stories a while ago. Maybe they will clinch a couple of last minute signings but if we don't it will be a great shame to fail to build on the momentum gained last season.
  13. I think it all comes down to finances really doesn't it. If someone comes in with a huge bid for Tiote or Cabaye I don't think Ashley or Llambias will care if either player wants to stay so yes in that sense they might be encouraged to leave.
  14. I would be absolutely gutted if we sold him last minute and I think it would be a sever blow to morale in the team. Thing is would Arsenal go above 15m for him??? I doubt it and I can't see us selling for less than 20m anyway. Arsenal also seem to have lost that bit as a team, they're not the attraction they used to be. A Chelsea of Man U coming in for him would be entirely different though imo.
  15. He's literally just signed and played one game in the premier league and some people already seem to be jumping to conclusions. Fuck me
  16. Really excited about this lad. Quality midfielders provide and outlet for the defence and calm things down. Also in big games you need that extra bit of quality on the ball and he seems ideal to complement Tiote and Cabaye.
  17. Is he anywhere near the bench for saturday at all or ruled out completely?

Saha will no doubt raise his game for the derbies but as someone else has said will he be able to produce consistently through the cold, dark months. Exactly the type of player I can see bagging a few in the summer/early autumn then getting injured and doing nothing the rest of the season just as people have started talking about what a great signing......................
  19. 17m quoted in the press (albeit the Mail as one of the sources) as being enough to bring Carroll back. I suppose with haggling you could reduce that to 14/15m. Still not sure how I feel about the Carroll thing really. That amount could be spent on other quality players/positions but Pardew still clearly rates him.....
  20. It's exactly that isn't it . Trouble is the trip was booked ages ago before the fixtures came out. Defoe looked sharp last night, will have to be watched like a hawk.
  21. On route to Chamonix while this is on, lol Typical. Should be able to catch the Chelsea match at the end of the trek the following saturday.
  22. Excellent, think he'll really compliment Tiote and Cabaye in midfield and he can fill in at left back when needed. Tidy.
  23. Maybe I've got out of bed on the right side this morning but I'm actually quite confident he'll move here in the end. We clearly highlighted the player yonks ago and he's clearly been integral to Pardew's plans moving forward. The player wants to come and the two clubs aren't miles apart on the price. Lots of tough talking is said in the moment but it's a game of brinkmanship and Lille know they'll be keeping a player who isn't happy. The very end of the transfer window may change the outlook on this situation.
