Yes I think the combination of playing him on the wing and as a "target" man in a hoof ball system pretty much finished off whatever confidence he had. I'm not saying Cisse is entirely blameless but the Cisse when he arrived and playing confidently to more recent times is like night/day. It goes back to Pardews complete lack of ability to coach players. He'll give the championship type players confidence but anyone with any real quality he can't coach or get the best out of either in 1 to 1 coaching or in the playing system as a whole. That's pretty much been proved with all our signings.
-
I agree. The player probably had the most absurd purple patch you'll ever see but our style of play and Pardews complete lack of coaching ability pretty much put paid to any long term success.

I detested Allardyce and Souness was full of shit but Pardew has gone beyond them for me now. Just desperately want the day to come when he fucks off. Which, you could argue is short sighted given the remoteness of anyone decent coming in after him. I'd take a shit start to the season to really see him in the mire and maybe finally bring about his removal.
-
The way I see it if he was to go to another prem team and do well as depressing as it would be it would be constantly sticking the knife into Pardew. It would show him up for the failure he is.
-
As usual he'll be banking on one of or a couple of the new signings to bail him out. If Cabella or De Jong does well and scores a couple of worldies then that'll help paper over some of the cracks. The core of defence is still weak as p*ss though and as yet we don't have a defined, reliable striker up front. Those two points seriously could work against him. I think he'll get away with it at the beginning of the season when the sun is out and people are less likely to kick up a fuss. But given he's just so fundamentally lacking in any managerial ability the team will gradually begin to struggle when the s*** weather arrives, the injuries start to come and we're being served up the same s*** week in week out. As Ian says above though I just don't think Ashley really gives two f***s where we finish in the league so it'll have to be really bad for him to act and even then it's hard to see. If there's still people in the stands and we're sitting in mid table then absolutely nowt will happen.
-
I don't think it matters who they sign, they've got our number under Pardew because he's completely incapable of setting the players up for the derby (or most matches really). Poyet knows he's got the beating of him.

His quotes are something to marvel at.......Even my Dad who doesn't really follow football that closely said the other day "Pardew's an idiot" I was almost dumbfounded when a lady in my local who is a season ticket holder when asked about the new season said really confidently "look at the new players who've been brought in, they look really good". Didn't even mention the cretin in charge when discussing the new season until I brought it up. I can't fathom that some fans still can't see how ludicrously bad this bloke is.
-
Rodwell probably needed a move like this as he just hasnt feature at all in the last two years. He's a great box to box midfielder from memory and a terrific finisher. But.....the lad just seems to be one of those players who is ridiculously injury prone. If they can keep him fit it's a very good signing but it's a lot of money shelled out if he spends most of or a lot of the time on the bench.

You can't polish a turd and no doubt we'll have a complete U-turn with the usual excuses pumped out by October. Injuries, lack of experience, small squad, can't compete with other clubs etc.... All this blood and thunder about pushing for a champs league place will be forgotten once the nights get shorter, the sun goes away, the injuries mount up and and the same age old tactical f*** ups are being made with the usual awful style of play. His only get out clause is if the new signings manage to paper over the crack as has been seen before. Let's be honest though if things start to turn sour which they very well could given the lack of sympathy the fans have towards him then surely even Ashley (who will have the view that he's spent heavily even if we don't) will lose patience if we're turning out the usual dour performances and languishing in the bottom half.
-
We'll be strong in midfield but we're still weak at the back and very light up front.
-
Champions league qualification He certainly likes setting himself up to look even more like a mug doesn't he, dear oh dear. Who is honestly going to buy that claim ffs
-
comical stuff. "Leading by example" hahaha
-
This will probably be our final recruitment in the striking department. Just can't see the club out laying proper money for an established striker.
-
The "blessing" of a few defeats will mean this fucker really starting to squirm
-
I think they may bring another striker in but it'll be another "deal", loan signing, unproven prospect type player rather than outlying cash for proven quality.
-
When you've got Pardew "managing" the side with his awful tactics you have to worry how we'll do whoever comes in. A it stands I agree, the window hasn't been a disaster but new players take time to adjust and we still have no fully recognised striker, are weak at the back and lack depth. The board/manager can dress it up anyway they like but they've done what's needed to probably prevent relegation and stay in the 10-14th bracket. We're a few injuries away from a crisis and like I've said with Pardew we're completely directionless.
-
Yep agree with comments above, I'll watch matches down the local but the pure passion/enthusiasm has gone with this mob in charge. I certainly won't be going down the ground.
-
Said something on friday/saturday I believe on this. Jesus wept
-
Has Pardew started his "we have to thank Mike for releasing funds" nonsense yet?
-
Exactly, the club needs to sign a recognised striker to replace Remy. Someone established who can hit the ground running and start knocking them in.
-
So who are our strikers currently? New French lad Cisse Armstrong Gouffran Hardly inspires confidence does it. Alan Pardew talking about champions league ffs
-
Given how we operate I don't expect to see anyone else come in but we desperately need a proven goal scorer to come in. Very light in that department.
-
I just don't pay any attention to anything he says anymore. Utter cretin
-
Saw him about an hour ago in the Italian on Ozzy Road, he definitely didn't look "in shape"
