We need to just get through this summer as best we can then get the CEO and director of football situation sorted asap. We can’t go on in the current situation. The club also needs to pull its finger out with stadium plans, sponsorship etc. it’s got the feeling of being a bit rudderless currently.

Yes until we grow our revenue pushing back against these ridiculous PSR parameters there’s literally no point going for players or at least all your targets being premier league players where rivals can blow you out of the water wages wise. I guess with Delap they thought Howe/the allure of St James might get him but wages proved key.

Isak was going to go next summer, it’s just the way this has all come about leaves a bad taste in your mouth and will lead to rushed chaotic recruitment before the deadline. Money from Isak could lead to a squad revamp but we haven’t exactly proved we can get deals sorted quickly have we.

Im not surprised it’s a mess behind the scenes and he’s been forced to pitch in beyond his role. The summer transfer window has also been a disaster so far (some of that possibly down to him too to be fair). I do worry that might opt for a new challenge at some point.

I’m afraid PSR and the reality of it keeping the likes of us and Villa or any side looking to advance on the top 6 has killed my ambition at really taking on this league, that’s the reality of it. The current set up simply won’t allow us to do what we’d hoped would happen after the takeover. We’ll still fight for cups and try and qualify for the champions league but we simply can’t spend enough to assemble a squad we need to do what we want or keep top players paying them the wages they need.

Not travelling with a “minor” injury is a concern, something is clearly going on and needs resolving asap. The summer has already been a farce so far, this could really stick the knife in.

Get a new CEO in, get a sporting director in and sort out the strategy. In the short term we’re clearly going to have to go back to recruiting from the continent, I mean it’s already worked. If we could sign someone like Wissa, get a top CB target in and then a few other additions if can still be a decent summer. Give Isak his new contract too to smooth that over. It’s been a piss poor summer (so far) though strategy and execution wise.
