Newcastle United vs. Tottenham Hotspur: 01/09/24 @ 13:30 (Sky Sports)

I think they can switch sides, either way Barnes surely has to start on Sunday with Gordon and Isak -
When the club as taken over I envisaged exciting windows where we looked to bring in absolute quality each window but not on a ridiculous, unrealistic level. We’ve obviously made some great signings since the takeover but PSR has totally fucked us really and I think there needs to be a degree of realism moving forwards. We see hamstrung by regulations that perfectly suit the top 6 and makes it very hard for anyone else to progress. I don’t think the club realised how difficult things would be for them. That said it’s still possible to feel extremely deflated by this window. Whatever the reason is (and Howe has alluded to them in his interview) if you’d told me a few years ago we wouldn’t be signing a single bonafide starting 11 player this window I’d have been shocked and bemused.

Barnes right is infinitely better than Murphy or Almiron starting. -
I completely forgot about the City match
-
And therefore probably why his stance against us has been so determined.
-
Parrish is probably banking on a bidding war next summer and the money they’ll get from finishing higher up the league offsetting being in the final year of his contract.
-
Shadow puppets with his updates has suggested that all the indications were that we’d get Guehi eventually. Something then stalled (re price obviously) and neither us nor Parrish was going to budge. Like others i’m just baffled that we’ve let this go on for so long without a plan B. Now it looks like we’re going to be short in a crucial area and aren’t even going to strengthen RW. In a season when we’re not potentially hamstrung by European football in terms of number of games and where key players could potentially leave if we don’t get Europe next season that’s a major concern.
-
‘Assuming’ it ends up being back on, can they get everything done tomorrow? They obviously have to get the medical and everything done by a certain time im guessing. Haven’t some deals gone over the deadline but still gone through?
-
Me too. I’m just intrigued to see this place if it happens, just for shits and giggles 😂😂
-
I still think this is on……..

I don’t know whose fault it is, or what exactly has transpired and I know that PSR is a massive fucking thorn in the side and a stick in stokes. And yes we’ve kept our big hitters this season. But if it is to be that we have brought in a single player to improve the current first 11, blimey that’s a damning indictment and really isn’t a good look for everyone involved.
-
Or Brett Emerton? 😂
-
We’re just rolling the dice more I think. Without key injuries and getting the likes of Tonali and eventually Botman back I think we can have a very strong season. Lose a few key players and without using the window to strengthen it will have a very negative impact on our season.
-
The windows has created a lot of negativity and halted some momentum. Extremely disappointing. Bigger picture however we’ll be fine.
-
Pointless following them this season? 😂
-
Aye what a dreadful dreadful window this had been so far blimey
-
Yeah as I mentioned somewhere else, they’ve stepped away from deals before when the price is too high. I have no issue with them doing that but less than 48hrs before the window ends with no obvious back up that we know of yet is ridiculous. Who knows what’s happened, was someone saying “let’s move on” the other saying “keep pushing for him”
