  1. Absolutely scandalous those decisions against Brighton.
  2. Yeah dodgy pen decision aside we’ve been pretty woeful. Not terrible but toothless going forward. Can’t stand Toney
  3. It might be more of a case of rested today, back for Villa if it’s a troublesome hamstring. Not a full injury but just needs to be carefully managed.
  4. I think Rice is class but the fee and his wages are just going to be too much. I’m not entirely convinced he’d come either vs option to go to a London club for example. I think we’ll sign a number 6 from the continent for less money.
  5. It doesn’t really make sense for Lascelles to stay any longer than this season especially if we sign a young right sided CB. He’s just not going to play and you have to think he’ll want to play some football at some point.
  6. Yeah I think we need another proper goal scoring winger who can turn and win matches. Diaby definitely fits that mould. Bowen would do well too to be fair, fits the Howe mould but I think we need top top player in this position.
  7. Yeah I think the number 6 will be someone like Kone, Kephren Thuram or Alvarez from Ajax. And as you said the money we’d save might go on someone like a Diaby or Maddison.
  8. Lack of ruthless finishers needs to be addressed in the summer. We play brilliantly at times but we don’t put teams to the sword when we’re on top. That is part of the next phase I’d imagine.
  9. Sounds like the type of twatt who’d burn a £50 note (not anymore eh) in front of people. Micky Gray used to do that in Mackem land and get hoyed out of bars for his own safety
  10. I think All with smiling faces podcast on GS has the best mix of serious discussion and humour. They come across well and it’d a good dynamic. I still listen to TF as I subscribed but I agree it’s gone downhill. The lad who says “like”’all the time I think is Kyle but he doesn’t really annoy me because I think he talks a fair bit of sense. That Charlotte lass if becoming intolerable with “ermmm” all the time. To be fair Si Campbell talks a fair amount of sense. The loss of Norman Reilly was a real shame, he was quality. Corby is class but rarely on. I don’t listen nearly as much now, it used to be much better. Pod in Tyne has the worst fake humour. I actually like Caulkin but I get why some people would get bored of his over emotional angles. Chris Waugh is spot on with his analysis and stats. Taylor Payne, givesy.
  11. I think the club can be afforded some respect in terms of the transfer business they’ve already done. They do a lot of analysis into players and decisions come from all angles of opinion from Nickson, Howe and Ashworth. I’m not overly fussed about McTominay but if they think he fits our system and they can improve him then so be it. Someone like Gallagher I could also see Howe moulding into a better player. Tierneynand Barnes are good quality players. I think they’ll look at a mix of some ready made premier league players with experience and then still go to the continent for certain key positions as they’ve done with Bruno and Botman. A number 6 such as Thurman or Alvarez certainly makes sense and would be cheaper than a Cacaido, Phillips or Rice for example. As a few have suggested they keep their cards pretty close to their chest so there may be some out of the blue signings too. People should probably just wait to see what happens and enjoy the fact we’re actually looking to progress than panicking or casting judgement in March before the summer window has even opened.
  12. Yeah I listened to that this morning. 6 players - LB, CB, 2 x midfielders (you’d imagine one number 6 type possibly, one more attacking), two forwards, (one winger and one adaptable forward/winger is about right Joao Pedro?) Plus trying to shift a load of players out. Whether we can get all our targets is another thing but there’s definitely be 4-5 I think and 6 would be fantastic.
  13. I think this is probably true with a view. Maddison seems like a good fit for us and given we already bid last summer it’s not impossible to think that we’ve already agreed a deal with Maddison staying this season to help with relegation before leaving.
  14. I think if we signed Maddison, another top winger, a proper left back like Bakker and another quality midfielder be it a 6 or whatever we’ll be looking really good. We probably do need another striker too and it could be a younger option like that Brazilian lad with Isak the main striker and Wilson rotating in when needed if he stays. I’d argue we need another CB with pace too as option to play with Botman as Schar can’t go on for ever. Bringing in 4-6 quality players whatever number it is pushes the genuine quality squad numbers up from 13-14 too.
  15. I think he might provoke a reaction too but he’s on dangerous ground. The players might think fuck him let’s prove him wrong but either way he’s gone at the end of the season you wonder whether they have the fight for certain games. They still concede far too many goals and over reliant on Kane. The home match v Man U then 3 away games come before we play them at home. It’s all going to come to a head soon but as I said I’m pretty confident of beating them at home and a win against Man U could really ignite us.
  16. Conte unloading completely on his players means they’ll either implode or go on a run. Pretty confident of beating them at home though. If we beat Man U in two weeks then we have an even stronger chance of top four.
  17. He’s fully arrived now, changing of the guard
  18. Chris Waugh has done a good piece in the athletic looking into what they are going to try and do at the start of chapter 2 in the summer.
  19. As others have mentioned his movement and pace occupies several defenders, that gives Saint and others more room to operate. Forest will come out at us and he’ll be vital and deadly for our counter attacking.
  20. Isak, Saint and possibly Miggy can cause their defence all sorts of problems. Sure they’ve had a decent record at home recently but their defence looked woeful even at home against Everton. We’ll get loads of chances, just have to stick them away.
  21. I think he’s playing under 100% re his ankle. Not enough to keep him about but slows him down a bit
