I don’t see an issue paying 65m for an England international which means you’re effectively sorted at CB for the next 5-6 years or whatever (particularly with Botman coming back at some point)

Yeah I’ve seen some “he’s bang average now” comments banded about in general on social media which is farcical. Seems like a move away/fresh start might help his general social situation too.

He makes a huge difference on the right side in an attacking sense particularly when you have Miggy or Murphy playing ahead. That being said I think Tonali will make a big difference to that right side when he eventually comes in in terms of creativity. I don’t want Trippier to go but if it also helps bring in a new RW I’m happy with that. I think Livramento will push on as a starter and offers different qualities (speed, very direct in attack) and Krafth is a decent back up. It seems from reports that Trippier will probably leave this window, he’s been an immense signing but I’m ok with him going, as I said particularly if it frees up a bit of room for say a new RW arrival if things are very tight assuming Guehi comes in.

Unless the value is that they help you get top 4 if they’re the player they think is perfect for this stage of the teams development and exactly what we need

65-70 is a lot but it’s probably less risk than paying 35-40 odd on someone abroad (I know I know Botman). Guehi passes the no dickhead policy, is captain material, fast, strong and can play right or left CB. I’ll be chuffed if we sign him.

Agreed there’ll be too many games where we either lose narrowly or fail to win by being unable to break teams down. Almiron and Murphy are functional squad players, good pros but that won’t contribute to top four this year. RW has needed upgrading for years.

It certainly hasn’t played out how they usually do but both Caulkin and Douglas have said club would dispute how many bids there’ve been. All the noise seems to have come from the Palace end. You’d imagine there either needs to be movement next couple of days otherwise we lose time securing other targets. I’ve no idea what will happen, what a mental saga 😂

Players opt for the wage at Chelsea and know exactly the situation they’re walking into so I don’t have much sympathy for him. Chances are he’ll get limited playing time and end up moving on 🤷‍♂️

My concern “if” we were to sign nobody is if we’ve limited ourself to minimal options which doesn’t fit our our previous strategy before. With our scouting network you’d assume we have several options for key positions and some that no fucker in the press knows about.

Agreed. Though less than ideal we can “manage” RW until Jan if necessary but we could be really screwed if we lose Schar for any length of time.
