We’ve been really poor giving the ball away in midfield leading to attacks

Second half looks tailor made for Shelvey if we continue pissing about on the ball 2nd half.

Haven’t been great at all but 1-0 up with several gears to go up and possibly Shelvey, ASM to come on.

Especially at St James. We’re a tough proposition and even harder at home. Crowd need to remain patient if it’s tight at anytime.

ASM back in any capacity is huge ?

Trossard makes perfect sense as a signing, premier league ready, scores goals can play either flank. Strengthening in attack is definitely key. However I just wonder also if a player comes available in Jan in a position who they might ordinarily have gone for next summer eg right back and right sided centre half positions. Not urgent positions necessarily but will need to be upgraded at some point.

He’ll get a new contract but I also think he genuinely believes in the project moving forwards and seems to have a genuine bond with the other players fans and city. We’re on the up and going places and for his development we suit him. He’s perfect for us and vice versa currently. He knows we’ll be aiming to bring in the Calibre of himself, Botman et al in Jan and next summer and our team could be a real force next summer. i think he’ll be with us for a good few seasons yet but ultimately if Real Madrid come calling at some point and he wants to leave he’ll leave. That said we’ll get a wedge of cash anyway if that time does come and the money will be re-invested back into the team. I really don’t think anyone needs to worry about Bruno leaving anytime soon yet though.

Be interested to see from the press conference today if Saint is getting close to a return. Would be great if he’s on the bench this weekend.

I think it’ll be tougher than we think and they’ll play with more freedom and confidence after their win. Their defence isn’t all that though and I just think we’ll over power them in midfield. Bruno Miggy, are on fire at the moment, Wilson is coming into some form and the defence is rock solid. I think we’ll win.

I think Shaw would be a good signing

I don’t think anyone knows for sure as they’re just monitoring the hamstring in training. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s back in some capacity before the World Cup even if it’s just coming off the bench. The game at Saints, cup game and Chelsea are probably more realistic though but it’d be great just to have him coming off the bench in a few games.

Exactly this. It’s just the way things worked out but it worked out great for us anyway. It’ll be interesting to see how Emery does with this group of players. He’s clearly a great coach and probably has a point to prove still in the premier league.

That’s a great shout. I actually think we might upgrade left back next summer.

Tough match but pretty confident. The players appear to have come through these 3 games relatively unscathed and will have time to recover for a few days. We’re missing key attackers but still scoring goals and rock solid at the back and St James is a fortress thesedays. Might even have Maxi back on the bench as an option.

I think we need another attacking option this Jan. With key injuries were definitely light going forwards.

Imagine him interlinking with Bruno, Wilson et al at St James

I know I’m jumping ahead here a bit but come next season if you include the January transfer and summer windows - how many potential new starters would you say? (By potential I mean real quality though as ever Howe may ease certain players in as we’ve seen). Off the top of my head I’m going: New LB New right sided CB Number 6 Winger

Fair point. It would be interesting to see what they do considering that have Krafth even though he’s our currently. A stop gap may be needed because Manquillo seems out of the picture completely? I mean Trippier can’t play every game in from now.
