I don't hate Hughton, genuine nice guy but i just don't rate him and think he should be long gone at Norwich and fancy them to get relegated if they stick with him. I was frustrated we had him because i thought although he's doing a decent job, we can do better. Then it wasn't to be, Ashley thought we couldn't do better and Pardew it was. Every appointment he's made has been stinking. Shearer said he never even got asked if he wanted the job full time or anything after they went down, harsh imo. Ashley struggles to pay top wage for a player let alone a manager on a big wage from Europe.
-
I don't know where people get the faith from in Ashley to think he's going to massively upgrade once Pardew is sacked. I really don't. Be very interesting to see how they take to the new manager as well if it isn't someone who stands out who is going to be serving exciting football or is another bottom of barrel, career surviving appointment like Pardew.
-
if you just hold your hands up and clearly admit that pardew is not good enough to manage the players he has at his disposal (with no provisos and no references to other managers) this could all go away Brett, it'll all be over, we'll get ronaldo to draft you up a N-O immunity agreement for all of the crimes you've committed against football and indeed sanity, then we can move on with our lives I've said from day 1 he's the luckiest man alive to bag this job and he's out of his depth. Only reason why his achievements have looked better than Hughton's are the standard of players he’s been given. Both bang average managers who probably should be in the championship and not managing top flight clubs imo.
-
If he is sacked you lot might feel how i felt when Hughton was binned The joyous feeling won't last very long though so be warned
-
I've never hid away from my feelings i thought we should have binned Hughton. He wasn't good enough for us and we should have upgraded there and then. I knew it would be a harsh sacking as he was doing a decent job, i just felt we could do a hell of a lot better. Then somehow, we ended up with this sick joke of just handing out a free job to down and out manager. Unbeleivable. So that's my trust has completely gone in Ashley and his managerial appointments, Hughton and Kinnear were bad enough but that was the last straw. Hope ne never has to appoint anyone again to save the embarrassment and he's gone before we do have to appoint or we remain getting positive results where Pardew doesn't sacked and we are successful. So far Pardew has actually done far better than I thought he would so I’m happy to stick by him. He’s still a c***, an average manager and someone i’d much rather not be here though fwiw. Don’t be mistaken I actually think he’s some tactical genius or love him, I really don’t. It’s my hatred for Ashley more than anything that I want him to do well so I don’t feel the way I did when he was appointed ever again. Otherwise i would just be wanting someone sacked from day 1 everytime an appointment is made and that just sounds depressing.

You talk the same when wide awake, i wouldn't worry about it good comeback yeah, such deflection much avoidance wow Sorry back to your point... Jose has the best squad in the league imo and should win the league and be ripping teams apart man. That just isn't him though, he's happy with his 3 points regardless if it's 1-0 and 5-0. As a Chelsea fan would you complain your team isn't playing the way Arsenal do? No they accept there manager isn't Arsene Wenger but they have a winning manager wo's main aim is to win and win ugly he will. I do bang on about this squad as i think it's very good and the best we've had in a long time. When i was banging for Hughton to be sacked i had a list of managers the length of my arm who we could bring in. Right now there isn't anyone i think Ashley would go and get anymore. So the summer arrived and i thought one good season, one bad season, he's looking to change the hoof ball, lets see how this goes and give him a chance. So far he's repaid the faith to me as we are in a good position to challenge and if Ashley signs a couple of players to boost attacking options we can go down fighting for a place in the top 6. I don't think he's mismanaging them, i think he's got excellent working relationships with them and a strong togetherness built in the dressing room. He's struggling tactically in the final third and it's a big worry for me but i'm still hoping he can pull it around. I think we'll finish the season strongly and get ourselves in a good position to invest again in the summer if Ashley is willing to do so. He's currently on par on where he should be but that's still a good achievement to bounce back from the shambles of last season when many tipped him (including yourself reef) to fail once again and get sacked.

Jose gets let off because he hasn't got a forward he trusts when he had the options of Lakaku, Ba, Torres and signed Eto himself. Fucking hell the cheek to call Pardew when he has a choice of Remy/Cisse or Shola
-
Jose is known for keeping things tight at the back first and foremost. When Chelsea take the lead they have the players on the pitch and on the bench to go and win by 4 and 5 but rarely do it. Jose would be happy with a clean sheet and winning 1/2-0. For whatever reasons he isn't letting mata, hazard, oscar, willian just tear teams apart, reasons for that i really don't know because they have the most creative midfielders in the league.

Chelsea don't go for the kill, Man Utd don't go for the kill, we don't go for the kill.

this is really starting to wind me up Brett - here's another way to look at it, so please do; the quality of our squad is easily top 8 in the entire country Brett it doesn't f***ing matter that scunthorpe, reading or millwall doing play carpet football, the fact is we should be and we should be ripping teams to bits on a fairly consistent basis As i've said quality doesn't matter, Man Utd have quality, they don't rip teams to shreds, Chelsea have quality, they don't rip teams to shreds. Yet Martinez had Swansea playing his way in the lower leagues with far less quality. People on here see other clubs playing a style they want to see and want here, don't we all but it's not going to be happening as you need the right sort of manager with the right sort of philophies to play that way and there isn't too many of them about which we found out. Unless you search around the world looking for one, and i'm sticking by it, something i believe Ashley won't do. That's my opinion and i'd love to be proved wrong but i just have zero confidence in Ashley to pull it off.
-
No i totally agree, i wouldn't say we are good to watch but we aren't bad. Rather Krul looking for fullbacks then players come looking for the ball to feet than merely a hoof up top from Krul for 70/30 aerial dispute in favour of the defender. At least we are trying a different approach to our game to improve things and get more control of matches, it's just in the final 3rd where things haven't clicked yet and it's frustrating but it's work in progress at least. We know our faults and that;s why we are looking towards the likes of Cabella to link and a striker of Gomis/De Jong.
-
I love stuff like this. The label was justified yet you manage to make it sound like people were being unfair. We're playing less of it this season, nobody's denying that. Still very often an eye-wateringly tedious and frustrating team to watch. No but what was wrong was over the summer me pointing out we were trying to get away from it and play from the back and i was getting called all sorts for suggesting it and i've been proved right. If majority on here were blinkered simply by the hoof ball which was horrendous, they then simply stopped looking at us and simply labelled our manager to limited hoof ball. We are lacking cutting edge in the final third and that's where our biggest problem lies and that's down to Pardew to sort out. We pass the ball well from defense and midfield, cabaye links well with tiote and the wide men but there's no movement once we get to a certain and things more or less breakdown. It needs major improvement but it's not say we can't yet manage it. Sometimes i think why did we even bother trying to improve our game and pushing up the table when the players aren't getting much credit, may as well just be stuck in another relegation battle hoofing it long as the forums attitudes has hardly budged from that.
-
I already quoted your bollocks over the summer. Calling me mental for suggesting Newcastle were getting away from long balls and trying to get more possession on the floor. Maybe you were just slightly blinkered during pre-season matches due to your hatred for Pardew and suggesting he would only do long ball. If it's any consellation, you weren't the only one who couldn't see our progression. I couldn't care less if they play it long or short, what I want to see is chances being created and goals scored. This still hasn't been rectified, so no real progression for me. Fuck off man, anyone can see the football this year is far more pleasing to see than what we have been serving up. We were labelled hoof ball merchants by many on here but we've eradicated that and whilst i even said in the summer we struggle in the final 3rd with the passing game, it's still the same now and needs worked on. This is down to Pardew to get the right players, in a formation that suits. So far it's been the 4-4-2 but it lacks any sort of cutting edge, we need to play the 4-5-1/4-3-3 system more often as this is where our success can really lie with Ben Arfa in the side. Plenty of work to be done but at least we are now building our attacks from the back and being more patient with ball and it's good to see.

If Ashley wanted to upgrade and take this club to another level...why didn't he do it when he had the massive chance to after Hughton. That was the perfect sacking situation to give the fingers to those who wanted him to stay and bring a foreign manager with new ideas and a new philosphy in to this football club which i really wanted and thought we would do. Neeedless to say my anger and bitter disappointment when we ended up with this cunt. But hey, he exceeded all my expectations of failure and relegation and got us in Europe something i'll always thank him for that as it came totally out of the blue and was a nice surprise. I'm not limiting it down to English managers, it was just sort of a point of where Ashley is likely to turn if Pardew was sacked. Why would Ashley risk a foreign coach? He had the chance and blew it. It's become fairly clear he basically likes to have people around him who he can pull the strings with easily. For me he would never chance a foreigner in charge who he couldn't guarantee would do everything he says on such a small budget. I'm willing to place any amount of money were Pardew to go, Ashley would be side stepping again rather than making the upgrade this club desperately needs. Until Ashley is out i can't see us progressing further than we've already been. Although i do want a foreigner, i'm not one to say he must bring this exciting brand of football that Martinez or whoever plays it either. Whichever manager is appointed i'd rather they played there preferred style than look to adapt to what others are playing. As much as i'd love that type of football, i know very few clubs play that way and we would be lucky to have it adopted here but if it's not to be, it's not to be, i wouldn't criticise the manager for not bringing it. Each manager has their own ideas and own way of looking at football. If their ideas were similar to that of Martinez/Laudrup then great but if not, at least get the right results to make me happy.
-
It actually doesn't, you lot are happy to think i'm sort of Pardew lover and think he's a good manager when it's far from the case. I defend him mainly because of the ott backlash he gets imo and don't think it's all entirely justified. Like i've said many times before, the horrendous appointment in the first place after has led me to beleive Ashley is not capable of bringing the right manager for this football and were Pardew sacked, it will be another cheap nobody yes man to come in, i went from such a high when Hughton was sacked to such a low when Pardew was appointed. A few of you might get that feeling when Pardew is sacked as a lot were happy with Hughton to stay like i am currently with Pardew. Nobody is winning under Ashley except the people close to him getting a decent wage and a job they couldn't get anywhere else. As for Man Utd, seems like everyone is in agreement Moyes is way out of his depth and should be nowhere near a club of that stature. Probably one of the few things the forum all agrees on together

I prefer the new bitter Chronicle. beats the hell out the arse licking version we had before. They aren't printing anything worthwhile though? I'd have more respect if they were digging out dirt on Newcastle and saying f*** you but this sort of stuff could be done by a 5 year old. It's a lot more interesting than the s*** they used to write Granted, they've never been as exciting since Laurent Robert went hunting for Alan Oliver

Moyes is just Pardew number 2. Should be thankful everyday he's in the job because he's out of his depth and was lucky he had a good word put in for him for the job. Rotten appointment. Yes he's been unlucky Rooney/RVP haven't played much together but he's hardly stumped for other strikers with Welbeck/Hernandez waiting in the wings. Everyone knew the midfield wasn't very strong but they still churned out performances last year. So far he's basically doing shit job but the boardroom will look like idiots if they let him go so soon and i imagine they will stick by him for a long time yet. They won’t win the league under him, like. Never.

The Official Alan Pardew Excuses Thread

Still amazes me how well received he is inside the ground, but then again so is Steven Taylor. -
Chronicle have turned in to right bitter cunts. Keep them out i say. Mainly because Ryder is a dick anyways.

Cisse was moving for him though and looking to be slipped in but the ball was never played. Fair enough you didn't watch the match but you get a clear view when there of runs people make and it wasn't for Cisse's lack of effort that he wasn't being given the ball. Saying that, if the ball was played, chances are his run would be ill timed and he'd be offside. Forgot how much that p*ssed me off, wasn't a welcome return that offside flag going up everytime ball went near Cisse. That's another thing which is a concern, Cisse's goal didn't come from good play, it was a scrappy effort which he did well to follow up on. But we don't tend to create goals through good football that much, so it's no surprise we don't win games more comfortably. The games against Norwich and Palace are good examples. Yeah but the good move Obertan did really well to set up for, he missed completely The game itself on Saturday was scrappy though, i wouldn't say either side wanted it more than the other. Cardiff were just as bad as us really. Credit OGS though, his subs were excellent choices and that won them the game, introduction of Campbell changed things for them rather than that other big oaf they had up front.
