Said it in the other games thread but not getting Guehi may be one of the best bits of business we’ve ever done. I say that as a fan of him as well but the whole thing was absurd from start to finish
-
All annoying, there’s no point being on loan unless you get a ton of minutes. You basically need to be starting most games for it to be more useful than staying with us
-
This will never not be funny like
-
Not that I think he’s a bad player so much. Personally don’t think he’ll make it at the level you need him to and you’ll sell him for £20m in a year or two but it just comes across like a bit of a loser to me somehow. Can’t put my finger on it. Sitting on the boardings next to Garnacho just seemed like he didn’t know what to do with himself
-
Amad comes across like such a chump to me. What an easy win that is for Man U. Southampton are going to fade very quickly this season if they can’t keep their press up as they’re not going to score many goals
-
Baffled why Amad is starting over Garnacho

Bruno F, what a thick cunt

Mazraoui looks good

Brereton Diaz is so shit man

Southampton are absolutely fine in the middle. They’re awful up top and at the back. There’s no way they should be losing here though. On the balance of play it should be 1:1
-
What a fucking hideous penalty, it doesn’t get worse
-
It does feel a lot like Plus ca change, plus c’est La meme chose at Man U
-
Got a strange feeling they’ll do alright and get a draw

This lad’s scoring tomorrow

Just because they have a preferred structure doesn’t mean that they’re happy with the people in that preferred structure either now or in the future. The idea that Mitchell gets a free pass simply because he fits the structure is shortsighted given that appointments don’t work out all the time even if they fit a model that owners want. This idea that Howe can’t work within this structure seems to have been swallowed whole by some of our less critically minded fans, when the issue could just as easily be that Howe can’t work with Mitchell but can work with the structure. This is all massively premature anyway and we’ll know more about how they can work together by the end of January.

Think there’s a good chance you’re right @54

Isn’t it five years? I have no idea if he’s better than Dubs in all honesty and I don’t think we’re likely to find out. We needed a proper number two keeper and instead we’ve ended up with Dubs who’s massively gone downhill and who seems to be having a tough time as well as John Ruddy and Vlach who can’t get ahead of a 20 year old for some reason

RVN was so limited outside of goalscoring yet an unbelievable striker. I’d put him above Cole in terms of being a pure striker

Cans at the Maldron on @Froggy

This is one of the very few scenarios where locking a thread would make sense. The only time this thread will have a meaningful update is when he’s loaned or sold. The likelihood of him getting sold anytime soon seems absolutely minuscule

Fucking hell, what an absolute mess. I get that it’s hard to point fingers but it’s shit for everyone involved apart from Forest
-
Where have I said any of that? I don’t have any trouble believing Howe can work with a DoF. Whether he can work with Mitchell we’ll have to wait and see but if it doesn’t work out I’d want Mitchell to go and not Howe. Howe has conducted himself impeccably here in every single press conference, the players love him, he’s had incredible results on the pitch, he’s improved so many players. Until Mitchell proves his worth to this club there’s nothing to suggest he’s an important piece. Fingers crossed he will be but making some ill advised comments across a couple of interviews isn’t clever stuff
-
Start of what? Administration proceedings?
-
If there’s an issue of trust and it’s not going to work then Mitchell can fuck off. I’ll wait and see how things develop though as it’s certainly not clear enough yet how it’s going to go. Let’s hope Mitchell that he can get his act together quickly and get players in that work for Howe and hopefully Howe will let him do that. Mitchell needs to work on how he talks though, Eddie is a master diplomat. Mitchell is not

My reference to us moving slow isn’t just in relation to the stadium. It’s also to do with the training ground, some sponsor-related stuff, not seemingly doing anything to challenge any of the corrupt rules in place that damage competition, not taking advantage of the actual rules in place, not planning effectively for this window just gone. It all just feels slapdash considering we’re “the richest” club around. Obviously we’re hamstrung but we don’t seem to have done much to work within the confines of being hamstrung
