NUFC may persuade Kevin Gameiro to snub Spain Read More http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2011/05/31/nufc-may-persuade-kevin-gameiro-to-snub-spain-61634-28791846/#ixzz1NulUwIFb

Would hope it is Sturridge/Rondon as the other potential striker targets. Remember reading somewhere on here that our backup options were Djibril Cisse and Erding, who I'm not so sure about.

"Definitely. Cabaye in the bag. Reckon Gervinho will sign: Gameiro a distinct possibility. Statement of intent" http://twitter.com/#!/MsiDouglas Sounds pretty optimistic.

They can agree now, just won't go through until July. Cheers

Thought the transfer window didn't open for official signings until 1st July? (re: Vaughan to Norwich)

Only posted it because its from a journo rather than some random "itk". Worth a little more (probably).

Pardew's 3 main targets at this stage understood to be Gameiro, Gervinho and N'Zogbia. Deal for Mehdi Abeid should be confirmed soon. #NUFC http://twitter.com/#!/Scottwilsonecho

Would much rather have Demba Ba as a backup type striker, especially as he's apparently going on a free.
-
Just pleased we're showing an interest in the likes of Gameiro/Rondon, as opposed to Carlton Cole and Defoe tbh. Would be delighted if he came here, but I think its more likely he goes elsewhere, even after reading about the bid.
-
Would definitely take Ba on a free.
-
Would love Matuidi/Fer.

Echoing what others have said- anywhere but liverpool. The problem now is that it will prove very difficult to replace him with a player of similar quality. Even if we got a transfer fee of £15m for him(unlikely), players in that bracket will have more attractive options than NUFC to choose from. As a lot of our attacking threat comes down the left, this could be a real blow for next season if an adequate replacement is not found. A Simpson type player for leftback will not be enough if we really want to push on next season.
-
Hopefully Pardew has got a good enough feel for the club to understand we need to aim for a higher calibre of player(generally speaking) than those he brought in at west ham.
