  1. Same here, Torres captain though. Hangeland in aswell, with Lukaku (injured) on the bench.

  4. He's not that good of a defender - a midtable premier league one on a good day, maybe. His positional sense is often terrible, as is his decision making about when and when not to tackle.
  5. "He just gets on with his job" "He's not the worst right back in the world" "His stats were pretty good last season"
  6. Expecting a deadline day "race against the clock" for Carroll which ultimately comes to nothing, and little else. If it stays as it is, it will have been a pretty underwhelming window in which we could have pushed on and strengthened the first team ( right back) and the squad (Striker,CB?) significantly, but failed to do so.

Shame. He'll be a good signing for them.
  9. Can't see this happening now. Really hope I'm wrong, though.
  10. Not his worst game, but was at fault for the goal and stands out as the obvious weak link in the team. Will be frustrating to have to put up with his incompetent performances for another season.
  11. West Brom looked pretty good to me. Yacob looks a decent player. Don't agree with those tipping them for relegation.
  12. Really unexcited about this, still. Far more pressing concerns in other areas of the pitch.

  15. Can't get my head round the fact folk don't understand that what happens in the Anita deal has no impact in our search for a right back. They aren't directly linked (buying Anita doesn't mean we don't have the funds to buy Debuchy/another right back), its more confusion at the fact that we're willing to bid 8 million euros for another option in midfield yet unwilling to pay 8 million euros to address the weakest position in the team.
  16. IYO, i'd put them equally. a player like debuchy could massivly alter the way we play for the better. however so would a player for that role in a middle 3, cover for when cabaye or tiote or out etc. Debuchy would be an immediate and significant upgrade on the obvious weak link in our team for a reasonable price. Anita is another option for a position where we are pretty well covered imo, especially as its unclear how often we will play 4-3-3.
  17. €8m would have sealed the Debuchy deal, which was far more important than this one.
  18. In terms of current ability yes there's a gap, but I think Clyne is going to go on to be really good. He's got talent in pretty much every area of his game. I would be happy with Clyne if we are unable to get Debuchy. I agree he has potential, but we need more than potential for a position in the first XI imo.
  19. iandovaston ‏@skydovaston #NUFC fans should watch out for possibilty of CP's Nathaniel Clyne coming in to replace Danny Simpson. Pretty big step down from Debuchy IMO.
  20. Not sure whether to put this here or in the Debuchy thread. Anthony Wright ‏@AnthonySAF Davide Santon has rejected ideas he is about to swap #nufc for #asroma and says Pardew has told him he wants to play him on right next year Santon: "Whether it's Debuchy or whoever, if he's a good player he can help the team. Then we'll see who the coach decides to pick..." #nufc Santon: "At the end of last year Pardew said his intention was to play me on the right, even if another full back arrives" #nufc Santon: "Roma were interested recently but Newcastle quickly refused to sell me. I'm settled in England + have no intention of moving" #nufc
  21. Definitely think 4-3-3/4-2-3-1 is the most attractive option when all our players are fit. Wonder if Benjamin Corgnet is lined up as the third midfielder in a potential 4-3-3 for next season?
  22. Iandennisbbc Ian Dennis Watford determined to hang on to Adrian Mariappa despite interest from #NUFC @BBCSport The player rejected move to Wigan #WAFC
