I’m not saying I always like that formation or want to see it that often. I didn’t like it against Leeds before kick off and I didn’t feel much better about it after the game had finished. I just think it will be used more. Especially away from home, against some of the big teams and in Europe, for example.

Good post. I'd say there is some truth in that. Some definitely thrive under this set up and they feel like their ability is being realised and maximized under Howe and enjoy the running through brick walls part. Someone like Joelinton would be right at the head of that queue, I'd imagine. Even with some of the recent injuries. Others possibly can't stand it and would be keen to leave should a bigger club or a club offering more money come in for them. Also, that just reminded me. A Liverpool fan saying last night that Tonali would seem out of the game and then just appear to win the ball back or slow play down. Couldn't believe how good his engine was.

What's so confusing? We have played that system quite a bit already, no and we now have 2 strikers, along with 4 decent CB's and midfielders wide men that could also play in that 2 behind the striker. Not that it was much good against Leeds and Everton, granted

It was the formation change, considering we rarely play a 4-4-2. The fact I don't see why Ramsdale or Murphy would start, I don't think both Wissa and Woltemade will start, certainly not in a 2 like that, IMO. Although that might be splitting hairs, they could both play in a slightly different system, I guess. Then Lewis Hall at left wing when he hasn't started for so long and it would be in a position he has almost never played for us, as far as I can remember? I don't think he would suit that style at all in a Howe system, either. I think we might start to see some changes and using the 3-4-2-1/3-5-2 a bit more. Maybe even some sort of 4-4-2/4-4-1-1/4-2-3-1 or whatever it used to be when we managed to get Isak and Wilson on the pitch together. I just don't see the first game back after the international break as being that time, nor do I see it being with those players listed.

I was saying similar to a Liverpool supporting mate last night. Was he half-injured and struggling with keeping up the intensity for 90 minutes. Or was he just phoning it in and he’s now going to be even better once he starts trying again?! Although the niggly injuries and him seeming like he’s cooked after an hour. Go back a lot further than the last couple of months of last season. It’s been a gripe on here ever since he signed.

Not really sure we should read too much into him being a miserable, boring sounding twat in interviews. People do have different personalities and show emotions in different ways. However, If he wasn't injured and he really did start half-arsing it after the cup final. Then I suppose you could link the two if you wanted to. I think his actions this summer speak far louder than his words and demeanour in interviews. Judge him on that.

So far, we have 2 players and counting who have done an ill-advised goodbye and good luck insta story. That's it. Ultimately, I don't even give a fuck if every player was happy to have him back.
