Joao Pedro? We didn’t waste much time as far as we know. Trafford. Whenever we decided to settle on a bid and pull the trigger. City get a call to match it. Did anyone think this was going to happen or was it reported until this season? Ekitike. You could argue he has turned us down 2-3 times by all accounts so that one is probably fair. But we did alright in the end in signing Isak and we didn’t spend long this window before Liverpool gazumped us. Shite that we are taking too long with transfers and didn’t push harder to get players in early. But it seems like we have been trying to get players that next level up and getting pipped by the cartel. We don’t know all the ins and outs and how negotiations went. But it does seem like we have been a bit naive and maybe been used to flush out other bidders. Along with the fact we probably should have had a plan B and C lined up more quickly. I’m just not sure it is worthy of the complete meltdowns some of the sad sacks on here seem to be having

This board is full of absolute fannies We have lost out on players to Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea and everyone is having a meltdown. I do feel we are moving at a pace similar to that of a coastal erosion/Shola Ameobi and we are a shambles at board level. But once our interest is leaked or should I say, agents decide to leak it to try and get a better offer. How is that our fault? We can’t match the wages, the fees and we’re not in a position to be competing at the top end like the clubs mentioned. As for Trafford, I couldn’t really give a fuck either way. Felt they were asking for too much money, wasn’t that sold on him and the minute City were interested. We stood no chance anyway.

Only really started playing up top regularly this season just gone, didn’t he? Maybe at times the season before and all.

Don’t begrudge him leaving and wanting a salary befitting of his ability and to challenge for the top honours. But the way he has gone about it, however, is shit. He can get to fuck with that carry on IMO. Effectively downed tools and gone on strike to try and force a move. I did also think he’d stay for this season at least. Possibly on a new deal and with a realistic release clause. Then move on next summer. If all of this is true, of course. Which certainly doesn’t seem beyond the realms of possibility!

Nah. Not even close for me. Chelsea have been the most unbearable as fans for a while. The fact they’ve now ‘won it all’. Will only make it worse.

Hugo Ekitike (not playing for Liverpool for a while)

Right. Can we delete this now? Or will it be similar to the Minteh thread where it gets bumped every time he scores or has a good game? -
Liverpool: LEEEEEEERRRRRROOOOOOOYYYYYYYYY JENKINS.

Some sloppiness/rustiness on show, which is to be expected. But there was plenty to like about that. Very two footed as we already knew, but seemed even more noticeable. Some crisp touches and lay offs, put a lovely cross in that Osula really should have been attacking with more conviction. Looked for the give and go often and was regularly in behind but we were usually too slow with the pass back to him. He didn't seem quite as fast as usual, but it's his first 45 in pre-season.

WTF is going on in this thread?!
-
Never heard anyone ever frame it like that either way and seems a really weird thing to say. "29th season under fifa rules" makes it sound like he's about to play his 29th season of professional football Seems a weird thing to get too hung up on. Him turning 29 in September. Unless you also prescribe to Zero's way of thinking about African and South American players

He's been playing pro football since he was a newborn?

Did we ever even bid for Delap, Mbuemo or Cunha? Was always just that we were supposedly interested and fans were rightly excited at the prospect, no?

Same. Every post gets more and more deranged

Yeah, but you're not looking at the whole pie, Fak.

I think he needs a run of games. He was in and out the team for a while and then just out the team towards the end. It didn't suit him at all and it made him look worse than he is. It felt like his confidence had totally gone and the fans had lost their confidence in him, as well. Which was a recipe for disaster. Off the ball he is brilliant, got a hell of an engine on him and covers so much ground. His passing can be a bit slow and sloppy. Has an annoying habit of holding onto the ball too long in advanced positions and then just falling over. Great runs off the ball into the box, the underlapping run used to bring regular success. When he came through under Rafa, he played a bit deeper and looked really good on the ball. The position he played in Howe's system put so much emphasis on athleticism and trying to cover the whole right hand side of the pitch. It might be why his ability on the ball suffered a bit. I'm not sure. As someone else pointed out, it is like from when he was on loan at Blackpool through to now, he has been 3 different types of midfielder. I think a move away is good for him and he can reignite his career with your lot. I hope he does and I'm looking forward to seeing how he gets on.

If this comes off. Then we are doing what the big clubs in the league have been doing for years. Sometimes to ourselves. We’ll be taking one of the best players from our Premier League rivals. I don’t get some of the negativity, personally.

By signing/trying to sign the best players from our premier league rivals? Not really bottom half fodder is it. State of this place Some people really are glass always empty/smashed to bits on the floor. Gets depressing logging on ATM

19 prem goals for Brentford last season and people are turning their noses up and saying it’s underwhelming?! If we are seriously in for him and we got him OVER THE LINE™️. Consider me very much ‘whelmed’
