I feel a bit sorry for him. With every sub appearance this season. He just further tarnishes a very good career (when fit) here. He seems to be getting worse with each app, somehow?!

Said a few times on here. But my Leicester supporting mate was adamant we should go for Barnes over Maddison when we were first linked with both. There are a couple of Leicester fans on here. Be interested to hear their thoughts.

Agreed. But it almost always seems like he has to make way and Gordon goes to the left. It's not a recent thing, annoyingly. Not even comparing him to Barnes. But I'd argue Gordon's skillset should actually work better on the right. I don't think his finishing is that great when he cuts inside and he's not an elite level passer or anything. But he has electric pace and is really direct. When he does get to the byline on the left, which he does quite a bit as he'll often beat his man for pace. He isn't great on his weaker foot. For whatever reason, he doesn't seem comfortable there and whilst a very small sample size. He looked to be pouting a bit when he's been RW and not really gone at the fullback on the outside. Mad position to be. After how good Gordon was last season, who would have thought he is now struggling to get back in the side. Due to how well Barnes has taken his chance and because Murphy has been a goal and assist machine all season.

He regularly drops back when wingers/full backs get to the byline. Ends up marking himself out of it. Watch him in a crowded box and he almost always does it. I’m not saying he doesn’t score tap ins from deflections or get on the end of crosses and I don’t know what instructions they get for their ‘patterns of play’ or whatever they call it. I just notice him often opting for the cut back and not aggressively going at the goal.

Some player. He is relentless and nobody fancies trying him one v one. Slight moan. I thought he was a bit poor for their goal. Just sort of waves a leg at it after great work from Joelinton. Then when he is tracking back. Seems to switch off for a split second which gives Garnacho enough time and space for the shot. Nitpicking, though. He has been a revelation since moving across.

That second goal FFS no need to put it there. But fuck it, have it in the stanch anyway. Felt very Suarez that finish. So glad he has taken this opportunity. We’ve not even missed Gordon and Barnes deserves so much credit. Just a ruthless finisher when he gets those sort of chances.

Minor criticism. As he is so good elsewhere and is better than just a poacher type. But he often hovers about or drops off for a cut back. He rarely attacks the 6 yard box. He did the same earlier in the game after one of Tino’s runs. Just want him to get past last year’s total. Certainly deserves to with how good he has been. I do also think he is a victim of his own success. Similar to a few of our players. Teams often man mark Bruno all game. Double up on Gordon when he plays to stop him cutting in. I think Isak is gettinf the same touch tight, physical treatment. If it means more room for Barnes? Gordon, Murphy and the likes of Tonali running off him. Then it isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Limbs o’clock! Absolute carnage behind that goal. Going to be some battered and bruised bodies tomorrow. All worth it of course.

The more you see and hear from him. The more he just seems like a normal, decent, down to earth bloke. Who is living the dream. You love to see it.

Is it just the Brits, that whatever time of year and whatever the illness. By law they have to mention ‘there’s something nasty going about’ or a similar variation on the saying. When you mention you’re ill? Or do other countries do it and all?

It doesn’t for me. Probably because of years of them fucking us over and usually being miles better than us. But also because I don’t think their current, super-defensive and negative looking style suits our game at all. They still have quality to nick a goal and we have struggled a bit when we go behind at home. Go ahead early like the game at Old Trafford. Then I think we’ll batter them.

After Paul Dummett. He is easily the best LB in the world.

Just noticed King Lewy has bagged a brace for Barca. Quite the season he’s having. He looked miles past it last season. But he’s back to his machine-like self.

It’s how good they are all over. They press like demons off the ball. They’re all very technical and cute with their touches and passing. But they don’t mind having a shot or taking their man on, either. They can mix it up. Throw in the fact they all seem really athletic and fast. They’re a bit of a juggernaut as a team. I guess the only criticism of them is they are a bit wasteful at times in the final third and struggle breaking down a low block. Should have been out of sight against Liverpool and probably again here.

Got to try and enjoy Rio now. Can’t get rid of the fucker. He’s just made a Street Fighter noise for Doue’s blocked shot
