I reckon it could be the wage bill holding us up. We've got a large number of players drawing salaries who aren't needed, won't be used and have no future at the club. We'll maybe see some more movement once we've shifted a few of them. Krul, Saivet, Colback, Haidara and Riviere would be about £8.5m a year going off reports.

I agree, it's got to be worth a try anyway. Hayden and Merino with De Jong in front of them could be quite effective I think. Maybe slightly lacking in creativity but Merino seems like he has a bit of talent and a lot of the time yesterday Shelvey just seemed to be lumping it anyway.

We did alright until the sending off. We definitely need to get the chequebook out and quick though. A proper number 10 would make a big difference to our game I think, Perez was just totally anonymous out there. Some positives to take away for me were Atsu and Merino, they both looked pretty good.
