Absolutely yes. Take the past and the present and extrapolate the various possible futures. Look at the direction and the trend of events and on that base your expectations and hopes for this great football club. Well, that's what I've done. And in the last few seasons, our lineup at the end of each summer transfer window has been stronger than the lineup at the end of the summer window before it. Whether that has been down to January business or whatever, it's true. So now I want to see whether the same will apply at the start of next season. I don't think it will (because Cabaye was so damn good and I don't think his replacement will be a match, with the best will in the world) but I think we'll have made some significant improvements across the team. So we've improved our squad every season and yet we're not far above where Hughton left us. Our last league position was well below where Hughton left us. You state we have improved our squad year on year ergo Alan Pardew has done a worse job with a better squad than Chris Hughton who was sacked.

I know we keep saying the season is over but that's just a figure of speech, it's not yet. We do tend to look beyond the season we're currently in too, it might be hard for you but if you really try i'm sure you can. We believe in you Brett, remember the sunshine bus is never far away! You don't even have to look far, loki...just look at your sig and remember that general feeling around the forum I can see why people are broken, it's horrible to witness but i can understand where they are coming from. Don't look at me, I wanted Pardew sacked in the season we finished fifth. There hasn't been an ounce of ambition at this club short of promoting a frankly down market clothing goods warehouse for many a year.

Yes I'd rather have permanent signings, but you're talking as though loans don't really count or affect your team, or something. If you happen to sign a really good striker on loan, it means you're under no pressure to sign one permanently until the loan ends, so obviously you'll do less business during that time. So what strikers will NUFC have come July 1st as things stand?
  7. , Argh, done in by the grammar brigade! Should really have an exclamation mark after the Argh and start a new sentence.

I thought we were looking for long term improvement, slowly slowly catchy monkey kind of thing? Short term band aids that need to be replaced and simply add to your squad problems when they leave doesn't seem to match that model.

We won't have signed a permanent first team player in 18 months whilst letting numerous players leave. That's to moderation as aneroxia is to weight watchers.
  11. Poor Stoke, it's always them, always a weekday and always bad weather.

Yeah, if we'd had some warning he was going to leave like a deal agreed for him to go in January or a big influx of cash like about £20m for one of our best players who knows what might have happened?

Uh oh. I think the chances are they probably knew they wouldn't be replacing him in January. They probably still popped a couple of daft offers in hope for a bargain but when other clubs stood firm. think they accepted they will wait till the summer for a better price. No doubt in my mind we'll bring a replacement in the summer though. There isn't Ashley has spent around 15-20 million each year on transfers and he spent nothing in Jan so can see him spending around that in the summer, possibly even a bit more if a fair few players leave. I think we might see a lot of change over the summer, that's more of a guess though No, Ashley has made about 8.5m a season on transfers. He's spent f*** all. I never said anything in regards to profit made or lost. Simply made the point he's spent roughly that amount of money on incoming transfers each year. 2 years out of the last 5. Basically what HP says here. I agree. Well who am I to argue with HF. I was just going by the widely respected transferleague.co.uk. I'll take your word for it Brett, you seem like a sound and not at all unhinged young man.
  14. I think he was a decent manager but he screwed it all up by airing his crazy views. His teams always played decent football and seemed well organised but I did hear he was a bit of a dick to the players.

  16. On paper is where the game is really played for accountancy fans. Unfortunately on the grass we have Shola Ameobi. Yes, those are the only options available to us. Get a bargain or LEEDS PORTSMOUTH WAAAAAAAAA. Get Grenier Replace Cabaye Suppose it's a good thing we sold Cabaye after the season was already over and we didn't have any more games to play.

  19. If it's true that a loss means Pardew is sacked then HOWAY THE VILLAINS.

Hold on, what did it take for Ben Arfa to get dropped? There was a run of games after Villa where he wasn't performing well and becoming a bit of a passenger. You can get away with the lack of tracking a full-back for example against Hull, if he's going to then make or score one himself, but that spell, he wasn't. Two games, one of which was an absolutely shocking team performance (Everton), is a run? After those games he was played out of position also. He's a menace on the right of a front 3 so we elected to play him anywhere but there.
