Actually, if you're at least semi literate there was. No, there's not. Just about aiming for the top 10 was the only objective from a playing perspective. Go look up 'at least'. Then find someone who can type and get them to look up 'at least'. Top 10 doesn't mean 10th, it's the same thing as at least 10th. Clown. Well done, you understand the basic premise of what we're saying. Now look up 'at least'.

What's the minimum you would be happy with in terms of league position next season?

Is he supposed to say top 4? 2nd? Champions? From the expectations thread the median expected finish was about 8th or 9th as i remember. How does that not fit with what he says?

I'd like to know what the factors they pinpointed are.

It's like walking into Currys and asking for a free TV, getting told to fuck off then coming back 4 months later and saying 'great, i'll take that TV now, cheers. Giz the flight money.'

Fuck it, we'll just top ourselves then. Form a queue on the bridge, northumbria's finest are gonna be busy.

Nicky Butt, Geremi, Alan Smith, Damien Duff, Mark Viduka, Michael Owen were all internationals. three of those for England a long time before they joined us, Geremi for Senegal, Duff for Ireland and Viduka occasionally for Australia. They're not really relevant examples compared to all the current internationals we have now for football nations like France, Holland and Argentina. This must be what it feels like when someone finally agrees with Inochi

Nicky Butt, Geremi, Alan Smith, Damien Duff, Mark Viduka, Michael Owen were all internationals. All very good players in their time. Unfortunately we signed them when they were retired in all but name, over the hill, crocked, didn't give a shit, fat and a horse trainer.

2014/15 NUFC Kits - New third kit revealed on page 143

There's a difference between trim on the collar edges etc and blue in the stripes. We're black and white stripes, not black, blue and white (unless bimpy's missus ever checks his posting history). -
Yes. You can't generally tell the quality of a player if he's selected out of thousands to represent his country. National teams are drawn out of a hat, that's why Obertan has so many caps.
-
Is it better or worse than this squad? They finished 5 points ahead of us.

Tim Krul - Dutch International Rob Elliot Steve Harper Jak Alnwick Fabricio Coloccini - Argentinian International Davide Santon - Italian International Danny Simpson Mike Williamson Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa - French International James Perch Ryan Taylor Massadio Haïdara - French U21 International Mathieu Debuchy - French International Steven Taylor Shane Ferguson - NI International James Tavernier Yohan Cabaye - French International Moussa Sissoko - French International Vurnon Anita - Dutch International Hatem Ben Arfa - French International Dan Gosling Romain Amalfitano Jonás Gutiérrez - Argentinian International Gaël Bigirimana Sylvain Marveaux Cheick Tioté - Ivorian International Gabriel Obertan Haris Vučkić - Single handedly funded the RVI Papiss Cissé - Senegalese International Yoan Gouffran Shola Ameobi - Holds the record for least movement ever witnessed on a football pitch. Once mistaken for a statue of fat Bambi Sammy Ameobi Adam Campbell - England Youth That's the squad Ashley, Carr and Dekka have put together. Yes, it has weaknesses but it's chock full of international footballers. There is no way that squad should ever be close to relegation. MA can't influence matters on the pitch, he can only give his manager the tools to do his job at which he has failed. The off field antics have been shameful but they have given us a squad of very talented footballers.
-
Ashley and Llambias can hardly escape the criticism since it's them that have given Pardew their vote of confidence. Who knows, maybe they'll be proved right. Let's see this thread in 6 months time and see who called it correctly. The N-O sages or the average Newcastle fan who is willing to back the imbecile. Them I hope. I'd be delighted to be proven wrong on this one.
-
Are we back to blaming Ashley now? Look at our squad, look at Sunderland's squad. In terms of on the field stuff MA and Dekka have been spot on really. We needed extra last summer but you have to say fair play, they did their bit in January.

We've been petrified of signing Carlton Cole for at least 8 years
-
If you've genuinely judged him useless over that period as a whole then that's fair enough, I'm more worried about the impact of this season in particular on people's views. In theory 2.5 seasons probably still isn't enough, but I realise that in practice it has to be. I posted that last february and a lot of others were saying the same thing. We were getting results but the football was largely shocking and we were relying on 'a touch of magic' way too much. I guess I just couldn't see that we were building and progressing as i'd hoped. Imagine watching someone build a building. The walls go up lovely, it looks great from the outside but they didn't bother laying any foundations. You're saying 'um, it's gonna fall down, we need a solid base' but to the rest of the town your house looks just perfect. It's only a few months later when there's a few rumblings in the earth that the house begins to collapse and you're still talking about foundations while the foreman is running round with some gaffer tape trying to keep the roof from falling in. edit to include Ian's quote as you lot somehow added a whole new page while i was typing. edit2 wrong bloody quote
-
It's been 2 and a half seasons Ian, how long do we need?
-
Without getting into trouble with the forum police () it may be because the folks on here generally watch the full 90 of every match whether it's on TV or not. The majority of fans who don't go to the game will likely check the result and catch the highlights (lowlights more like, fnarr fnarr) on MOTD and so will miss how spectacularly shite we are and the magic 8 ball substitutions and tactical changes. Dunno what excuse match goers have.
-
Only reason to buy another central midfielder is if we're trying to buy every single one of them so nobody else has any. It's the one position where we've got fuckloads of players.
-
Rene Girard Rudi Garcia Rafa Benitez Alan Pardew And we picked Pardew. Maybe Mike has a lisp so he refuses to employ anyone whose name begins with an R. Fucking hell, that's probably a better reason than whatever they've come up with in these meetings. I genuinely hoped we'd see the back of him this week. So depressing to think we've got another season of this shite and even more depressing that it took Stoke 5 years to get rid of their lemon. Another 3 years of this will kill me.
-
Yeah, he seems happy here for now but if we have another disastrous season next year then I think the patience of our better players will be streched thin. Next season is going to be so important to us, if we can do alright then we have a good chance of keeping our big names and pushing on. Don't even want to think of the 2014/15 squad if we're flirting with relegation again next season. Jesus, 'flirting' with relegation, we took it home and banged it senseless this season.
