I don’t think anything you’ve posted here is contrary to what I posted to be honest. He doesn’t get on the ball and in fact seems to actively avoid it given our decent possession numbers, and when he does eventually get the ball he does very little to progress play compared to our other players playing in the same system. I used this season because it’s the most relevant to the current system and we’ve had a decent amount of possession.

He is really not doing anything in games and it's an issue. We have lots of possession but the metrics you'd expect to be high for a midfielder are not. A select few: Progressive passes per 90: KT - 6.57 ASM - 6.32 Bruno - 5.00 Joelinton - 3.86 Longstaff - 3.78 Willock is way down the list with 1.72. Shot creating actions p/90: ASM - 5.79 Bruno - 3.71 Longstaff - 2.95 Joelinton - 2.71 Willock is again way off with 1.72. Carries p/90: Bruno - 50 ASM - 43.2 Joelinton - 38 Longstaff - 35.1 Willock - 31.4 Lowest of all our midfielders in touches p/90 too. Look at his passing numbers across the PL this season so far. We are 8th in the league for average possession (50.7%) so there's no reason for them to be this bad: Doesn't get on the ball and doesn't do anything when he does. I'd put Longstaff or Anderson in for him until Shelvey's back.

Dan Burn has made the most passes on the pitch. Surely we'd have been better with Botman playing and making those passes instead.

Our subs bench is so shit I think the only one I'd do is get Botman on for Burn and see if having someone better on the ball helps.

It's quite baffling that we didn't buy a winger. It was obviously the position that needed improving most going into the summer imo.

When we qualify for Europe we'll need both

There aren’t many teams in the league who could dominate against a Bruno, Tielemans, Joelinton midfield, like. Would give Joelinton license to get further forward and support ASM too.

Bit leftfield maybe but I reckon Wilson could be very effective on the right of a front 3 in our current set up. There’s a lot of goals to be had from that position with ASM and Bruno supplying. Trippier keeps the width out there as we know. It’s just whether he could do the defensive work.

Kulusevski is fantastic. Seems absolutely perfect for the PL.
