when you see him play like that you see what we’ve missed for the last couple of years or so really. Everything goes through him and he always plays it forward.

it’s weird because he won player of the tournament for England under 21s playing that position, but he’s never looked like being anywhere near able to do it for us until recently. I still need to see him play like this in 3pm kick-offs against less reputable opposition, mind. It’s his biggest issue.

I thought he was incredible last night tbh. Gave the ball away a bit second half but him and Joelinton ran the midfield at both 11 and 10 men. Absolutely dominated whichever no marks were playing midfield for them. edit: sure I was in the Tonali thread

he actually looked technically competent in this game. First touch was decent, dribbling decent, and made 20/22 passes which is high for a winger. A lot of those were forward as well. Hope it’s the start of him turning a corner.
