Just the three new LBs then, and two RBs. Still time for more!
-
£50m three years ago- you’d hope there was something there for that price!
-
-
Their weekly wage total is higher than ours, have more higher earners, and offer more (eg £200kpw to Rice to sign a new contract)
-
Or “I’ve given a list to the owner (Elmo, Choudhury, Alex Bruce) and we’ll have to see if there’s good willing on his part to sanction a deal…he wants the best for the club, like we all do, so I’m confident….”
-
Not too far from us currently (once Isak signs)- NUFC €124m, WHU €139m according to transfermarkt.
-
They are- they offered Declan Rice £200kpw- well above what we are paying people.
-
This. I’ve seen nothing to say a fee has been agreed, and the only mention of wages being agreed is that ‘it wouldn’t be a problem’- meaning his agent has just notified all interested clubs as to what he would want.
-
Fifth- Arsenal fans were going crazy with happiness when they thought they were signing him in January…
-
Me too. But just saying it’s pretty obvious that the club have at least more than a passing interest in Paqueta- there are more than a few snippets out there from various sources. As seen with Isak, the club keep things close, so it doesn’t concern me that our interest isn’t splashed all over via every journalist going, like some people are wanting or expecting- we’ll be working on it or at last seeing if it’s possible, I’m sure. It might happen, it might not, but lots of reports (Athletic, Times etc) have named him as a target.

-
Chris Waugh in The Athletic?: “…the Brazilian having featured during conversations with Lyon in January, before Newcastle ended up signing his best friend, Bruno Guimaraes. Agents continue to discuss Paqueta and Newcastle as a live situation, one that could see the summer end with the 24-year-old reunited with Guimaraes…”

just posted an IG story about walking the streets after a stressful day in London…
-
Iirc, Edwards was continually knocking back the Saudis and stating they’d left the equation, whilst he put forward his ‘exclusive’ inside story about Henry Mauriss getting the club for weeks.
-
Or if Mauriss is still waiting in the wings…

To be fair, Aguero was nigh on the biggest transfer fee paid that season (possibly the 2nd highest) worldwide. ‘Only 38m’ in perspective is similar to us signing Nunez this year. In hindsight, it was a bargain for sure, but it was major money at the time. https://www.transfermarkt.com/transfers/transferrekorde/statistik/top/plus/0/galerie/0?saison_id=2011&land_id=&ausrichtung=&spielerposition_id=&altersklasse=&jahrgang=0&leihe=&w_s=

Never injured is pushing it a little. Granted, not for us, and not his ‘time bomb’ knee. https://www.transfermarkt.com/demba-ba/verletzungen/spieler/40205#/

From the Chron: “Isak has been classed as a great deal for Newcastle by many observers given his best years are still very much ahead of him. But Newcastle are not finished there and are expected to sign another forward and possibly a wide player. Although, there are a clutch of departures also on the cards with Eddie Howe's squad currently oversubscribed.”
