If we show that we mean business early on I think we might have some luck. If we can smash in a top striker, Trippier and Botman early for example it should be easier to get top players. If we fail to make a statement early on I can see a lot of players being reluctant.

Honestly we already fought a relegation battle with Wijnaldum in the team. Eventually he was one of many very talented players we went down with. I remember him shying away from challenges against shite teams and letting Sunderland for example win the midfield battle by being a coward. He wasn't what we needed then in the prime of his youth and supposedly everything to prove. I don't think he is the one we want to give a last pay-day now. Another Michael Owen situation in the making putting himself before the team is bound to happen. I would steer well clear.

I'd be lying if I said I'd have seen any of the 3 play. They are just big names to me. I still think if the finances are as massive as they might be, we are still going to be able to sign great players. It won't be every players cup of tea to come here. But if you offer to double the salary of a top player from say 100k to 200k, some are still going to come with the promise of a better team being created eventually. Most maybe don't want to yet because of the situation we are in, it's really annoying we didnt get the takeover before the season started.

I hope if we get one massive statement player it's a central midfielder. My FM brain hopes for someone like Tolisso, Barella, Tonali or the like. Someone completely unrealistic who will lift the quality of the team right off.

To be honest Clark should head it even if Dubs calls for it. Dubs should smash after it even if Clark heads it in my opinion.
