What’s the forum thoughts on this lad? He was absolutely shit in the first half yesterday. Slow, safe passes, dispossessed, bullied by their cm, bottled a header. Second half he played a couple of nice cross field balls and went on that good driving run through the middle and I remembered that was what he was about under Rafa. He pressed high, made those leggy runs through the middle of the pitch. Is it a coaching thing? Confidence? Or he just a bit short of what you need at this level?

Outside of Fernandez he was our best player last night. The header he missed was poor but he’s such an odd scapegoat for a lack of any game plan when things go wrong. He essentially won us the game last night by forcing the issue and people are still desperate to say how shit he is. It’s weird.

You can point fingers at Ashley for all of his failings or an on/off takeover but we’ve gone so far backwards as a team from Rafa to Bruce with an objectivity much stronger squad.
