  1. Part of me is feeling like if we brought a new RW now to replace Murphy, it'd just be a Tino Asprilla upsetting the squad balance situation all over again.
  2. Remember that video of our end of season lap of honour? Bruno was pointing to Targett saying "we have to sign him!". In my mind, I imagine that our management decided at that point to gift Bruno a Matt Targett.
  3. Jacob Murphy described as "sublime" and "sensational". This is peak "Is this the Real Life" meme . Fair play to wor Jacob, of course. Goes to show what confidence, momentum, and playing a settled team can do for on-pitch chemistry and understanding. Murph and Dubs just mirror Chris Wood and Mats Sels at this juncture.
  4. Adel Taraabt at QPR.
  5. Frustrating to see Man City suddenly wake up and sign everyone under the sun when we’re “keeping our powder dry” and worrying about losing our top players, like. I was expecting there to be an Oil State dick-measuring contest when we were bought. Now they’re able to get Khusanov and Marmoush and Vitor Reis whilst under charges?
  6. "Queefen", essentially the Celtic "Kevin".

    Marc Guehi

Err, yes, purportedly a release clause of eighty million Euro…..so there is that.

    Marc Guehi

Reports of our scouts at the Portuguese League Cup game to watch Sporting's Ousmane Diomande - 21-year-old CB, huge physical player who tackles high up the pitch and is a superb passer of the ball - almost like a hybrid of Botman and Schar. Really hope we're in for him instead of going back to Guehi.
  9. I see Anthony Gordon snuck in a “we’ve got to stay humble” remark in the post-match interview. Wonder if it was a subtle dig at Arteta.
  10. The Lino is just there. How was this given? @Hanshithispantz ref your post in the Officiating thread.
  11. Fuckin love BDB waiting for him and putting his arm around him there. There’s quality leadership amongst a fair few of our squad now. Really enjoying this.
  12. Who’s on yellow cards that would miss them a final if they cop another one in the return leg? Big Joe, Gordon and Tino? This two- card rule is a farce.
  13. Milan cashed in because they obviously knew he was going to cop a lengthy ban. Worked out well for all parties ultimately.
  14. Love it that we were also patient and stood by him in the entire year he got banned (although we’d likely be in Europe this season had he played). A few of these players have greater affinity for the club, either through the club being there for them (Tonali); or transforming them (Joelinton, who made the Brazil squad under Howe); or giving them a better stage (Gordon, Isak, and Bruno); or developing them really patiently and well (Hall). I know it’s naive to assume that players “owe” their clubs any loyalty in this day and age, but it certainly helps that Newcastle United are actually well-run, excellently managed, and has quite quietly built a properly united team that seems to love playing for the club. I mean….just look at this…
  15. “Rage bait engagement “. It’s all that’s left to get people to watch or read their content in this day and age. Doesn’t matter if it’s genuinely a thick person or purposefully obtuse - stupid, shit takes get people clicking.
  16. Same situation with Rashford - it's not the quality of the player (lol); it's not whether ManU wants to jettison them - but if you're earning 200K to 300K per week, you won't take a pay cut and Newcastle won't break our wage structure for Antony, of all players.
  17. Kubo joined Sociedad 19 July 2022, Isak joined us about a month later. Not sure if they played any matches together, but quite certain they haven't spent a great deal of time together.
  18. The entire continent will be after him if he is available, for starters
  19. Can Man City buy him back (for 30 mil apparently) and then attempt to immediately flip him for 150 mil?
  20. If that's a pen, then Kulu on Gordon was definitely a pen.
  21. How’s his distribution?
  22. I'd expect if we score first, then it'd be much like Manure where we'll go on to win it by 2 or 3. We'll then manage the intensity to save our energy for Arsenal.
  23. Wonder if there are any stats on "assists to an assist" out there. He must rank amongst the top.
