I think its fairly obvious from those quotes that Marriapa is only considered back up and we will go for a first choice CB in the summer.......

Waiting for better value in the summer i'll bet We already have shown that we are looking towards the summer with staying away from certain deals because of value..... Like Tomkins because West Ham wanted too much, delaying any search for players like Zaha and Hoilett till the summer because of value, even Clyne is being delayed until the summer IMO. Having said all this i think its imperative we sign a CB on loan atleast to get by until the end of the season and then you con focus on the other area's in the summer.

Taylor's been good tbh. Can't defend like but he's been invaluable this season. We wouldn't be so high in the table without him. Yh i realise that i was meaning as an quality and attacking sense, he's not going to provide anything like what Ben Arfa is......

I genuinely believe Pardew is harder on Ben Arfa because he knows he's capable of so much more than the likes of Shola, Obertan, Taylor etc etc and wants to get the very very best from him..... Meanwhile Shola, Obertan and Taylor cant really give anymore than average.

TBH if we signed Douglas or Vertonghen i would be freaking delighted, but i think as already been mentioned id prefer Douglas just because of the style of defender he is and how he would compliment Colo....... Vertonghen is more of a Colo clone and probably a Colo replacement instead someone to go alongside him...... Dont see Colo and Vertonghen working particularly well myself meanwhile Douglas and Colo would work well immensely. Having said this if we signed one of Vertonghen, Mbwia or Douglas id be freaking delighted.
