Debuchy was miles better at overlapping and cutting it back to the six yard box or edge of the box, until Cabaye left we scored loads of goals like that. Don't ever recall Janmaat doing anything like that and quite frankly i don't think he's better than him defensively either, Debuchy was a better one v one defender, better in the air and pushed teams back which nullified their effectiveness mainly. Janmaat has been a good signing, but i really fail to see anything he's better at and pretty convinced the only reason that it's seen that way is because he's the replacement and Debuchy left as soon his mate went basically. Wouldn't surprise me if Wijnaldum is considered better than Cabaye soon either tbh.

We have to play 3 in midfield no matter what IMO, the team as a whole is a lot more compact and fluid when we play with 3 instead of a 2 and then a 1 further forward as for what ever reason it doesn't really work to me. Know that i want Thauvin and Perez on the wings regardless and i'm not really fussed where as i think they'll do damage with Mitrovic regardless.

Watching the Dortmund game as i don't have Sky, if there's a more wasteful team in the world than them i haven't seen them.

He's been defensively awful for ages, only reason it didn't get brought up was because Willian, Ramires and Matic would always cover his runs and he'd make up for it going forward. Almost always out of position and someone else would often by covering the right back spot while he strolls back.
