  1. Liverpool’s recruitment actually got a lot worse as Klopp’s influence grew. Man City’s current malaise is a mostly a recruitment failure.
  2. Mitchell was always 2013’s good idea but I hope we secure an independent replacement
  3. Not a lot of value in what Brentford would demand imo. 14 non-penalty goals from ~7 expected is historically pretty dangerous. He’s pretty good but 30m is your cap
  4. This is a masterclass in how to exploit our weaknesses jfc
  5. We are just not very good at breaking down low blocks.
  6. I think the r/r at his price point is actually not good.
  7. If it makes you feel better ~40% of the transfer fee saving will have gone to signing bonuses and wages. Certainly not free.
  8. Real problem now. Both painfully post-peak, increasingly aggressive liabilities.
  9. So who are are taking someone from Juventus given this mental fee?
  10. Don’t have data that far back but probably close
  11. Letting Martin last this long was gross incompetence. This is all-time Premier League bad
  12. A 7-8th result is then average, given the investment, so the value add is probably nil. I think it's a lower bound for not considering us to have made bad decisions somewhere.
  13. Literally every analytics guy I know thought he was rubbish
  14. This is an extremely optimistic perspective that was and is not unanimous. Milan opinion is that Reijnders was an upgrade. I did not, and do not, like the transfer.
  15. Because he has an extremely specific function that doesn’t appear to fit in our first XI. He’s good and I like him but it was a poor allocation of resources, given Jacob Murphy started today.
  16. Tonali is not the midfielder we needed. A James Maddison would have been much more interesting given how we struggle against low blocks.
  17. Spunking >100mm on Tonali and Barnes who, whatever you think of them, don’t really solve any problems, is inexcusable. Both are running at pretty substantial paper losses right now.
  18. Likely 13th after 15 games. I'm not saying it's right, but we might've crossed the rubicon here.
  19. I mean it has been a generally good trend wrt the underlying numbers, but yes that was fucking garbage.
  20. We can debate the intent of the rules but they were in the place the entire time we were buying players. The club fairly deserve criticism for some of their decision making, especially given those out-sized bets (Tonali, Barnes) have not worked as of yet.
  21. I think we've actually got quite a bit better in recent weeks after starting the season looking like we were headed back to being not very good.
