And do what with Sissoko though? He's probably our best player out there. Not sure. But there's not really the space for him to exploit with his running power centrally - they seem fairly happy to counter if/when we develop any sustained pressure.

Marveaux needs to be central, not Sissoko.

I'm not sure Anita knows what he's meant to be doing, to be fair.

The general structure of the midfield has been appalling.

I do think it becomes quite hard for us to develop any sustained pressure on the opponent high up the pitch when he plays as number 10. That's not really a bad thing if we set up to counter, but I don't think it's ideal at home to someone like Stoke.

Because a midfielder playing upfront doesn't make him a false 9?

This isn't something that frequently happens, though. Laudrup, as demonstrated by your post, has always been a popular choice to succeed Pardew should he be sacked. It was only logical that some people, after playing his team, might reaffirm their desire for him to be our manager.

I really like Kevin Volland. Hoffenheim are currently in the relegation places, too.

I've just read debuchy to be annihilated by bale and lennon to have perch for breakfast down the right. Well informed. The former might well happen tbh, considering what happened when Agbonlahor came on in the second half at Villa.. Everyone gets annihilated by Bale basically, so it's not really worth worrying about. Not Danny Simpson.

Taylor's a good defender and Perch is the best DM we have with Tiote away. I thought Anita was a DM? He is, just not in the traditional sense. Still a better passer and more positionally aware than Perch. But he can't deliver that overrated bone-crunching tackle, so he takes the bench. A DM is responsible for protecting the back 4. That isn't Anita in a million years in the PL. He does that through recycling and retaining possession.

He can play there - it's where he played when he came on for France vs Spain.
