They've had a decent window but I don't think they've significantly improved - Fletcher is probably on a par with Bendtner, Cuellar with Turner so they're really only a very injury prone Saha and Johnson ahead. Johnson has the potential to be a real game-changer for them if his head is in the right place though, a lot depends on him - certainly think they'll give us tougher games this season, but still see us finishing comfortably ahead of them.

This is a very good post - in amongst all the disappointment about lack of signings it's easy to forget that we've kept all our best players and the young lads and foreigners should all be stronger for last season's experience. For instance I've seen several complaints about Best not being replaced but he hardly played once Cisse arrived anyway so that's effectively his replacement. Anita looks to be an upgrade on Guthrie and Campbell, Vuckic and Sammy can easily match what Lovenkrands offered. Fully fit seasons out of S Taylor, Marveaux and HBA and at least one of the African lads staying put and we're well ahead.

He beat his man numerous times, won a load of corners, nearly scored himself, whipped at least 4 or 5 balls into the six yard box. FFS man, some people. Agreed - only a very good save stopped him scoring and he put in 2 very good crosses in the first couple of minutes of the game.

I think overall our squad is stronger than this time last season, but with more games to play it'll be harder to replicate the same results. Realistically 5th is probably our peak just now so think this season is destined to be somewhat disappointing.
