  1. Sorting the CM was an unexpected bonus and Townsend adds a decent wide option. The biggest issue was getting a goalscorer so everything hinges on Doumbia, I've seen very little of the lad so no idea how likely he is to hit the ground running - if he comes in like early Cisse we'll be absolutely fine, if he's more of a Shola then we're royally fucked.

Wait, that hospital photo is genuine?? Thought that was someone taking the piss!

    Jose Enrique

Aye. Have to admit I haven't seen these terrible Liverpool performances people are talking about but he's only just 30 and was absolute quality, can't have completely lost it surely?

    Jose Enrique

He was brilliant for us, always had full confidence in him 1 on 1 with any winger, would love him back if he can get back in to that kind of form.
  5. Didn't really expect us to do much in this window tbh, certainly not 4 new players and 30 million spent.
  6. Great news. Him and Armstrong will be a great partnership in the Championship next season.
  7. Hope we at least put a read receipt on the fucker.
  8. The "slight knock" could be interesting, maybe they will only sell to us on the condition he doesn't play against them on Saturday?
  9. ESPN reckon 25 million http://www.espnfc.co.uk/story/2798424/newcastle-to-improve-saido-berahino-to-25m-sources
  10. Can only think Fat Mike is getting personally involved here, the thought of Charnley banging in 24 million offers just doesn't seem possible

    Loïc Remy

Express reckon we might be getting him http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/639857/Leicester-Newcastle-Chelsea-Loic-Remy-Transfer-News-Gossip
  12. Can see Spurs coming in once either us or Stoke have a bid accepted and the price is establised - you would have to imagine that would easily be his preferred choice of the 3 linked clubs.
  13. http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/west-bromwich-albion-fc/2016/01/31/albion-insist-saido-berahino-is-not-for-sale-despite-21m-newcastle-bid/? The Express & Star reported on Friday that Tony Pulis's side would not be selling last season's top scorer to relegation-threatened Newcastle - who are just seven points behind the Baggies. There is also reported interest from title-chasers Tottenham Hotspur, and Albion - despite publicly saying the 22-year-old is not for sale - would listen to offers of more than £20 million, as long as they are not from Newcastle. Berahino made a timely return to the starting XI on Saturday, netting twice as the Baggies were held to a 2-2 draw by Peterborough in the FA Cup. And chairman Jeremy Peace does not want to risk strengthening a rival in the bottom half of the table with Premier League survival - and next year's multi-million-pound new television deal - at stake.
  14. Hasn't their Chairman already explicitly stated they won't sell him to us as we're a relegation rival?
  15. Thought he looked very promising, almost a lovely assist right at the end.

    Seydou Doumbia

He's got a career scoring record better than 1 in 2, that's pretty impressive tbh. Can't say I've seen much of him but if he's quick and knows where the goal is he would immediately be our best striking option imo.
  17. "For free". Guess they paid him a big sign on fee. Point still stands. I doubt they paid him the 10m or so he would have cost in transfer fees. Perhaps they just want to cut their losses and take 4m or so? I know theirs reports of 7m but that's too much IMO. With his rumoured signing fee plus whatever he is due for not asking to leave even £7m would leave Swansea with next to nothing on the deal given they arent exactly rushing to replace him. Makes zero sense for any party They've just signed Alberto Paloschi from Chievo for 8 million, pushes Gomis further down the pecking order...
  18. Have to admit I haven't really paid much attention to Gomis at Swansea but his scoring rate is similar to Ayoze's (playing mostly out wide and off the front man) and not that much better than Mitro's. Would seem a bit of a pointless one.
  19. Still talking to Gomis apparently: http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2016/newcastle-continue-negotiations-for-bafetimbi-gomis/?
  20. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/are-newcastle-united-about-to-profit-from-mike-ashley-a6842846.html Hmm....
  21. Get a striker and we've basically brought in half a new team, wonder if McClaren will still manage to relegate us?
  22. Dwight Gayle is a strange one, he often looks dangerous in games I've watched him but his scoring record is poor. Plus he seems like a massive bellend so would probably steer clear tbh.
  23. Apparently they're confident that as he's come through their youth system they'll be entitled to decent compensation even if his contract runs out - one of the papers mentioned a potential 10 million.
