I've been reading a lot of praise for him in this thread but I have to be honest I'm just not seeing it - seems to lack pace and power and doesn't even look close to actually scoring a goal. If we have a budget to spend reasonably big on a striker this summer, I don't think he should be it.

Shawcross is a bit of a cunt, which is one of the things we're lacking. Most of our players are way too nice, Cabaye could be a niggly little fucker but he's away now and with even Tiote trying to be nice these days there's only really Debuchy who has a bit of needle about him. Sissoko tries the mean and moody thing on occassion but it's just not the same as having an out and out arsehole getting in everyone's faces.

We've actually given our lovely neighbours 3 of their last 8 league wins. That's almost 40% of all their victories over a period stretching back almost 14 months. It's almost beyond belief.

The more the top 6 seem to put their main focus on getting into then performing well in the CL the more opportunity there seems to be for the rest to get to domestic finals and actually win trophies. As probably one of the top 2 or 3 teams outside of that group it would be lovely for us to actually give it a proper go.

They were obviously a decent side but certainly the best example of a one-man team to have won the title in the PL era. Well, yeah, goes without saying. Takes far more than one man to play the type of football they did, though. Hendry, Ripley & Wilcox were just as important imo. Those two wingers were made for that strike force. Just skin the full back & whip in a cross. Made for Shearer that. And Hendry was a fucking beast. They were certainly important, but i wouldn't say as important. Shearer in those days thrived on crosses but he was also scoring all kinds of goals from all over the place, remember him belting in loads from distance in particular. Anyway, back on topic, I think Sherwood comes across as a complete nob and I'm looking forward to him disappearing back into obscurity.

Now tbf we can't be expected to compete with sovereign states like Wigan, Hull and Sheff Utd. So frustrating.

Without a doubt I would say, especially at Arsenal. The only players who've scored more than him in the Prem this season are Suarez, Sturridge and Aguero, imagine how many he'll get with decent service in an attacking side?
