  1. Fucking snubbed again I need to put the flag in my avatar
  2. Always liked Miggy, but also happy to be cashing in while his value is still high.

The Liverpool connection is what made me think it was fake, because then you get clicks from three sets of supporters: Liverpool excited about it, Newcastle worried about it, and angry clicks (the best kind of click) from Everton. If you were going to float a fake rumor to get clicks, that's an excellent choice.
  4. If he hadn't gotten injured last season it could be a different story, that was his big chance to step to the next level and unfortunately he missed it. As it stands, he doesn't have any qualities that we are going to think about next season and say "fuck I wish we had a player who could [whatever] like Elliot Anderson"
  5. I like Anderson, and think he could be good, but we're not going to miss him. Very curious about the fee though.
  6. Yeah when you put it that way it's a great bit of business. Plus when was the last fucking time we had a prospect pan out? If anything selling him before his injury streak was a masterclass.

The buying club being Liverpool makes me think it's bullshit. It's all a little bit too perfectly salacious.
  8. Aye, you've got to be a real degenerate to watch the MLB draft. Reminds me of this classic:
  9. Ouff, how viscous is that fluid if the coins are floating

    England

The patriotism talk is interesting. I'm at a point now where when my wife wants to fly the US flag outside our house I'm against it because to me that flag now symbolizes racism, oppression, and general right wing redneck lunacy. They've been waving the flag so hard for so long that I can't separate that shit in my mind any more. I imagine it's similar with the English flag.
  11. That's in. Last angle on the video shows it pretty clearly for me. One of those that's never getting overturned either way though, as there is no 100% clear angle. In any case, the goalkeeper's fucked that more than the referee, that's for certain.
  12. Parity is great, but the only real way to get there is a hard spending cap. The problem for football is that it's a worldwide sport, so for any sort of cap system to work all the top leagues would have to agree to implement coordinated caps at the same time. If the premier league implemented a cap on its own, it would just immediately relegate the league to second tier behind Italy, Spain, etc. Unfortunately, that level of coordination between leagues will probably never happen, so the idea of parity in football is basically dead in the water. It works in American leagues because nobody else plays our sports at a serious level, but in football you just have so many competitive leagues and it would only take one backing out to scupper the whole thing.
  13. Might as well call it the big five, Tottenham haven't won anything, have they?

Yeah free transfers aren't really any cheaper for the club, it's just that the transfer fee goes to the player instead of another club.
  15. Excited for the start of pre-season this week! Get some minutes for the first team.
  16. That assist was gorgeous of course, and that finish on what was a deceptively difficult chance. The ball was a little bit behind him and the way he sorted his feet out to hit it was just lovely.
  17. Dubravka's been great for us. He's legit and can certainly do a job in the premier league. We have an unfortunate tendency to hang our keepers out to fucking dry, and he doesn't cope with that as well as Pope does.
  18. It works fine in football. In England, in particular, there seem to be issues. It almost looks like self sabotage but it's probably just incompetence. I for one have no interest in returning to the days of constant bad calls favoring big teams. It's better now than it was, but a bad VAR call gets more attention than a bad call in the old days because now there's an expectation to get it right.
  19. Got to love the historic records too, Newcastle are 7-4 against the West Shropshire Roveringtons, having last played them in the old second division back in 1958. Or like, Newcastle hasn't beaten the Roveringtons in almost 50 years (they've been in different leagues for 49 of those years). Fucking great.
  20. Just got back from watching Messi record a goal and five assists in a 6-2 win. What the fuck.
  21. I don't see why they wouldn't push on with her until they have some reason not to. I know it doesn't mean much, but I will say that in the interviews I've read with her she seems like an absolute killer. The exact kind of winning obsession you see in top coaches. There's no reason why she can't grow with the team and get to the top levels, especially bringing in talent around her.
  22. Plus Bruno saying after that is the first time he's ever scored a header, even as a kid
  23. I won't be able to relax until he fires one down the tunnel, then I'll know he's 100%.
