Extending Schar is an easy one for me, he's basically free compared to what you'd have to spend to bring in a comparable player. To find a ball playing center back that can actually defend, plus scores a game winner every year, not going to be cheap. It's not like he's 38, sign him up.

Yeah, Eddie handled it nicely last season I think, brought him on to get the face-off out of the way. I don't remember Gordon doing much that game outside of winding up the supporters, but if nothing else it meant that this season we don't have to wonder how he'll do in front of them. Gordon didn't seem bothered in the slightest to my memory.

It's an ownership issue. They're doing the Mike Ashley program just at the other end of the scale, so just enough to stay in the competition so you can trouser the TV money.
