For sure. What got us results last year was a sound defense. Things are not going to improve till we get a decent CB - game after game we're letting in sloppy goals.

If we make chances for the forwards we'll get goals, and we'll have Ben Arfa back to add a spark. He needs to be playing more up field. So wasted wide on the wing.

Pardew has to take his share of the blame that's for sure. Some of his tactics or lack of have cost us this season. But that aside, it is the lack of investment that has really cost us. Williamson has been such a weak link in our defense and I am convinced if we'd sign a CB this season he barely would have stepped foot in the 1st 11 and we would have won more games than we've lost.

As much as it pains me to say Pardew is probably better than any other cheap alternative that MA would bring in.

Our new purple player? Better than Williamson. Is there a worst Center half than Williamson in the Premiership? I can't think of one. I'd rather Shola played at CB at least he'd win a header.

Only a few positives for me today... Santon - thought he was excellent Bigi - thought his choice of passing was v.good. Anita - played well RB Oh and Benny's strike...

I am disappointed - not lest for the fact we were supposedly linked with some good players yet bar Anita got none through the door. Anita for me is a strange buy, yes we lost Guthrie but Midfield in one area we have reasonable strength. Can't help but think he was a replacement for Tiote and they'd planned to use money from that sale to fund some of our targets.
