Heartbreaking stuff :'(

Yeah well lets look at the bright side, we might not bring in any strikers and we'll fall badly behind the rest of the PL but at least Ashley saves some coin, that makes it all worthwhile for me at the end of the day.

Thought I'd post this in the rumours rather than the actual thread but been told tonight that Remy is staying in the hilton tonight, for talks with us tomorrow. Very much friend of a friend sort of stuff from a guy who supposedly works security at the hotel. I will will more than likely be proved wrong tomorrow.

Gomis and Remy would be my preferred pair of the ones we are linked to, just think overall from the limited I do know about Gomis that he would offer more all round to the team than Bent.
-
One of the few times I'm not actually angry with the board for offering less than the "asking price" 7 million is a fair deal under the circumstances and if we do pull out I hope they live to regret not selling him for the offer price. If we do move on though I hope there are other targets, because it really does just smack of "we just couldn't get it over the line" Another long season with Shola beckons if we don't get something tied up soon.

Signings :frantic:

Hope we can get this done ASAP to put everyone at ease. Its been a long hard summer.

How reliable are GFN? Some on twitter seem to take what they say as gospel but others have referred to them as the french equivalent of the sun.
-
I keep reading that he would prefer Marseille and it makes me sad :'(
-
Can definitely see the Gomis deal happening but I think this will be a non starter, I think it will be put up or shut up in terms of actually buying him.

One of the things that annoys me about this place. People are very quick to judge. It's fair enough on people like Shola who have been here for an eternity and proven their are useless but when I see people just decide that Santon is s*** defensively and Debuchy is useless based on half a season. To be fair I'm of the opinion that Santon is suspect defensively, and that's based on two seasons, that's not to say he won't improve of course.
-
Haidara I thought lookedd more solid in the defensive side of his game, which was a snap judgement based on very little.
-
I never really made an opinion on this because I never really knew which side I was on during the "dispute" just glad its all sorted and hope Cisse can regain some of that 11/12 form, I fear that without a proper system in place to provide him the service he needs we may not see it. Fingers crossed I suppose.

If hes losing his head in a meaningless pre-season friendly whats he going to be like in January when we're 19th with Kinnear in charge getting battered every game?

I hate my username.

I know, innocent until proven guilty and all that, just you know this is NUFC and his baggage is bound to come back and bite us on the arse. I thought part of the new recruitment process under Graham Carr was to do the research behind the scenes and not only bring in the right player but bring in the right character too, I'm assuming that went out the window with JFK's triumphant return.

To me he just seems like the kind of player we shouldn't be touching with a barge pole, there was the obvious debacle the first time around with him favouring the cash to go to almost definitely relegated QPR, then theres the rape allegations and subsequent court appearances. He just doesn't seem like the kind of player I want at my club and I think most are only warming to the idea of him because they are desperate to see a new signing. He probably is the best and more what we need out of the pool we've been linked with though, but surely theres someone else out there without the baggage?

Plus points from the game for me were Santon, though he looked very assured in his position and seemed really slick getting forward and was probably our most dangerous player, I've always had my doubts about him but if he can fine tune his defending I think he could be a revelation for us. Thought at times it was nice see both of our fullbacks getting forward and on the overlap, which is something we didn't do enough of last season due to us being shit scared to venture out of our own half. Gouffran showed massive determination when he came on and caused them all sorts of problems, he chased everything down and looked very sharp, I would love him to given a more central role possibly playing off the striker because I think hes a bit wasted out wide although he can do a job there. I still don't think Vuckic is good enough to make the transition from exciting prospect to first team regular, however I thought he was very impressive when he came on last night, almost scored, linked up play nicely at times and saved us conceding a certain goal due to one of Tiote's many fuck ups. The negatives are the same as they have been for the whole of last season, awful set pieces, nothing linking midfield and attack, Tiote playing ahead of Cabaye, Tiote being a lumbering liability and us seemingly have no cohesion or plan going forward. It's all still very worrying for me because (and I know its a friendly) It doesn't look like we have worked on any of our major flaws. I'm happy that we are working on conditioning and fitness but theres clearly other important things being overlooked. Cheers Pards.

I don't understand this Remy thing at all, if we really are in for him then we obviously don't care that he has an upcoming rape trial to attend in September? Why would they be willing to take a risk on something like that? Are we even aware of it? Wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if we weren't.
