What did people make of his performance today? Was sloppy against QPR despite the goal and thought he hit a lot of wayward passes today. It's good that we've picked up points with him not particularly playing well though, if that makes any sense.

Still can't work out whether I like him or not, he has had great games but also some absolutely dire games, I can tell you this though he is not a premier league standard CM, at least not yet, heavy investment needed in the middle if we clinch promotion.

Another run like the one earlier in the season will be enough to see off the competitors IMO, whether that be in 1st or 2nd I'm unsure. We still look fragile compared to then though, today will do wonders for confidence and I'm up to a 7.5. It's amazing what difference a win makes. Effectively 7 points clear of third with our GD and a slip up from Brighton and all is well. Currently have 2 more points than our previous recent promotion too.

His goals have been very important to us recently but my god the amount of times he gave the ball away in the second half when he could have made a simple pass, seems to turn into trouble a lot.

Assisted the goal in a nice move he was involved in and held up the ball well, tailed off second half. Still think the criticism is miles over the top but he definitely needs to improve his finishing, he does tend to miss his fair share of sitters. I think between 60-80 million personally, with another 20 million set aside for January if needed, the squad will need major reinforcements in key areas. Seems a lot but we spent the best part of 50 million in the championship, I don't think he would settle for much less personally.

Thing is we can all see the merit in having Benitez next season once promotion is hopefully achieved, truth be told there are a lot of managers out there who could have probably had us in the same position this season, it wont be until next year we feel the benefit of Rafa and would have everything in place to kick on. Ashley doesn't care about kicking on though, so it matters not to him whether Rafa stays or goes, he will bring in another Pardew appointment and it will be back to business as usual, bargain basement Carr signings, and lower mid table/relegation, this will never change apart from maybe the odd lucky Pardewesque season. We will never be a force under Ashley or have any kind of consistency until this changes, and its pretty obvious at this point that it never will.

Think if he left tomorrow attendances would drop to about 42-45k rather than full houses, but still not a significant enough drop to make a statement.
