  1. Because the PL wouldn't dare throw a club out because of who their owners are. The precedent, the impact on other teams and the legal process would tie them up for years.
  2. He looks exactly like Allardyce. Once you see it, it can’t be unseen:
  3. I wonder if we could apply to join the SPL
  4. Turns out the PL retrospectively blocked the wedding as the Spurs chairman fancies a crack.
  5. All the info is here: https://www.google.com/search?q=nufc+cat&source=lnms&tbm=nws
  6. It does - they knew it was coming and were trying to smoke the PL out before the delay was agreed.
  7. But if PIF bought a sports retail business, which happened to own NUFC, with all the ramifications for UK high street trade, it would massively complicate the PLs objections.
  8. And that's the most telling comment of all isn't it? It's a footballing version of the Groucho. “There’s a club in the North, son, and you’re not part of it.” Dave Whelan to Mike Ashley Here's a question for you - what if PIF simply bought MASH holdings or whatever was needed? Including the wider businesses.
  9. I wouldn't have Steve Bruce in charge of wiping my arse.
  10. What about Dave Beasant? That was a cluster-fuck of a transfer. We never did well with Wimbledon players before Barton. - Glynn Hodges was another. Or for another goalie, Mike Hooper, the birdwatcher.
  11. Malcolm Allen looked like an excellent buy before injury - but we’ll never know. Financially, it must be Carroll who cost us nowt. But for me, it’s Brian Kincline - without him, we drop to Div3 in ‘92 and face Armageddon. ‘Keegan is in no doubt about the contribution Kilcline made. “Brian was brilliant,” he said. “He doesn’t think the world owes him a living. A great pro. He got in among the players and helped turn the club around.” Or to sum up: “The best signing I ever made for Newcastle United.”’ The other players I supposed I would have to mention are Peacock and Kelly. Their goals built the momentum that took us up and gave us a platform to become established as a PL side.
  12. Whats the criteria? I’m inclined to mention players like Feraday or Franz Carr but I suspect the fees were so relatively low… Similarly, players like Kilcline or Rob Lee had a positive impact well above measurement by fees or goals.
  13. He is literally saying that his mate wrote the book on sports arbitration.
  14. My theory is that extreme left or right-wingers are all on Twitter TELLING people how it is. Soft Left/Centrists like to rationalise and discuss things more, and are more likely gravitate to forums like this.
  15. Rafa’s a shit manager with crappy little glasses… And his breath smells of shit… And he doesn't know how to tie his own shoelaces.
  16. It just shows you what the arsehole in the pub would have been mumbling to his equally fuckwitted mates. We've given all the twats megaphones and their own TV shows. No wonder we're fucked.
  17. What Southgate has shown is that consistency and continuity from U-21 to the first team pays off - massively. That's always been something we've been shite at - the U-21s have only ever been an afterthought. If the FA learn anything, let it be that.
  18. Sterling's great but Kane is overrated and we don't have much of a threat up front. Other than for a dodgy penalty decision, we might not have got to a final.
  19. There is a part of me that's weirdly relieved. So many people I really dislike would have been made even more unsufferable by an England win.

    Sunderland

We define them. Not being us defines them That's why the place has such a small-town Brexit-ville mentality. Everything is the fault of someone else bigger, who took away what should have been theirs, who stole their opportunities. Geordies, Muslims, Foreigners. If Alf Garnett and Arnold Rimmer bred, Sunderland would be that child.
  21. Whats odd, when you think about it, is how HARD the PL are fighting this. After decades of passivity, permitting our under-investment, they want to prevent the commercial takeover of one of their *own* members, and they’re using every legal trick in the book and are throwing millions at it. Put like that, their motivation cant be anything other than fucked up.
  22. But.. Lick Upwards said there *was* no takeover. This coming from Staveley would mean that he knows *fuck all*
