I've added more to my post. Essentially, it's Occam's razor. The text leak that forced this situation: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7739307/Married-Premier-League-boss-David-Pemsel-quits.html Got rid of someone who was not on board with the PBP/ESL plans. Convenient, eh?
-
He was brought in to push Big Picture/ ESL through - (as was Masters) - it's why he was 4th choice appointment and why his predecessor quit after a week when he found out what was going on. He has a banking background and the ESL was funded by JP Morgan - just join the dots (or follow the money) "Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck, who heads the Premier League Nominations Committee, said: "Gary was the outstanding candidate in an extensive and highly competitive search process, and we believe he will form a strong partnership with our Chief Executive Richard Masters, helping to guide the League while promoting new ideas and strategies." Also: https://www.themag.co.uk/2020/08/what-did-newcastle-ever-do-to-gary-hoffman-surely-not-the-500000-he-was-shamed-into-giving-up-newcastle-united/ He also has beef with Staveley as Ex-Barclays when she was involved with them - up to his neck with Qatar. https://www.arabnews.com/node/1824366/business-economy "A judge ruled Barclays will have to pay its own £33 million ($46.09 million) legal bill despite winning a case against British businesswoman Amanda Staveley’s PCP Capital Group over how the bank negotiated a financial lifeline during the credit crisis in 2008...Waksman in February had found Barclays guilty of “serious deceit” over the deal which offered Barclays a lifeline during the crisis...The civil case revolved around how Barclays secured billions of pounds from Qatar and Abu Dhabi-backed investors 13 years ago, allowing it to secure its independence — and the jobs of its bosses — by avoiding a state bailout" PLUS the Keys/BEIN shite. Will that do to start with?

The PL are still betting they if they can string this out long enough, PIF will lose interest and will walk away permanently. If we do have dirt, we might well need to dish it - as this is currently a game of who blinks first. But equally, the delaying cannot go on for ever, and the legal process will slowly rattle onwards. Hence all the ‘wait’ stuff. Also, the PL absolutely do not have *our* interests at heart. They clearly need to be torn up and started again. They’ve made an enemy out of Ashley now - they are acting in many ways like a 1970s trades union, restricting his commercial activities. He does like to ‘park his tanks’, so he wants three things now: - Sale of the club - Compo for losses - Revenge on the PL

For the record, I’m not slagging Rafa off, and I understand why he’s gone to Everton. It’s just a bit of a reality-check for those of the more romantic inclination. It’s a shame because it felt like he had unfinished business, but either we get taken over, and get someone good in - or we don’t.
-
Not really - loads of talk of ‘the project’ and him connecting with a working class city and him being behind Staveley coming in. It looked like we might he more than just another job, and we are a fanbase who like things to be a little bit romantic. It would be nice if all that was true. But not the end of the world if it isn't. What’s mad about that?
-
We thought we might have been special to him - we weren’t. Now, we move on.
-
Corbyn also in the frame for Spurs
-
He should go for the Wigan or Southport jobs.

I used to live slap bang next to Luton Airport. I don’t any more.
-
This is how I’ve seen similar issues dealt with on other forums, was just a suggestion.
-
Can I make a suggestion to the mods? 2 Threads 1. Takeover Facts (possibly only open to Mod posting) 2. Takeover talks/bollocks /whatever Then we can ignore the other if we want...
-
Rafa would have been great - but I do think there is a lot in ‘never go back’.
-
I wonder what clauses are in place to prevent additional punishment in the event of a PL regime change.
-
The bloke was bang average here, was sold on the back of a very decent half season and never ever recaptured that form. David Kelly was a much better striker.
-
Edwards hates Benitez
-
If Rafa goes anywhere else, that’s when I will know the takeover is finished.
-
If the takeover is blocked, it will be proof that the rest of English football is against us, and will be for ever and ever.

F'ing sick of comments on Twitter and online about 'Newcastle Fans' from know-nowts.

Yes Newcastle manager Steve Bruce speaking to Match of the Day: “We made hard work of the second half but we defended well. There were a lot of tired bodies but I’m delighted with the way we have finished the season. "When we really needed the results, the players and the staff have worked tirelessly to turn it round. “We’ll never say it’s an achievement to finish 12th for a club of our stature but it’s an achievement. I hope the people who have written us off, they’ll eat humble pie and give us some credit. On the possibility of keeping Joe Willock: “I couldn’t be more pleased for him. He’s done so well. We’ll try our utmost to keep him but we must respect that he’s Arsenal’s player."
