Was talking to one of my work colleagues today who is generally an intelligent guy who's a season ticket holder. We naturally got talking about the state of the club and I said I stopped going a while a go and wouldn't return until Ashley has gone. Big mistake, he then starts to fire out phrases such as: "I was there before Ashley was, and I'll be there after". And "If you can't stick it through the shit, you don't deserve to be there when it's good". We really are doomed.

You shouldn't need training ground bust ups as players should be told they arent performing well enough by being dropped or in an one to one meeting. Obviously this club hasn't believed in managing the players correctly for a while now. It's make or break for McClaren this next game I reckon. If he's gone nuclear and the players still don't respond where else has he got to go? I very much doubt Colo will go in January for example.

People seem to forget he is still only 23 and has a couple of years until a player of his position traditionally hit their peak. I think he would be a good signing and he'd be ahead of Colback all day long. A Shelvey, Colback midfield would be awful though so would need to be Colbacks replacement. Doubt he would come here either way .

Funny you should say that, I seen an interview of his on football focus a while back and if I remember correctly he said his girlfriend always complains that he has the most boring taste in food known to man. Apparently all he will eat is chicken, bread and pasta and his favourite cheat meal was chicken nuggets.

Really hope McClaren told Colo and Sissoko to fuck off.

I get the impression everyone is waiting to see what happens in January until the pressure really starts to heat up again.

I am enjoying the economic lesson but it seems some are forgetting a key economic factor. The Premier league is a brand. It markets itself on being the best/most entertaining league in the world. Do you think they will be showing half empty stadiums every week? No, because it would damage the brand. Not only would a boycott mean the obvious less money from gate receipts but would also hit his number one funding source the TV money that people keep harping on as well (I love this topic as I did my dissertation on it). It's a double wammy. But yeah you might as well directly hand Ashley £500 per year as someone somewhere has sky sports...
-
I think he will be off to Palace now to be honest.
-
People are failing to realise it's not a football club anymore it's a business. Would you keep paying £500 a year for a product that gets worse and worse? The only way the fans get their club back is if we play Ashley at his own game. He's banking we won't though.

Cabaye pinging inch perfect passes left right and centre :'(

One of McClaren's biggest short comings is not having the balls to drop Coloccini. He's at fault for so many goals. Seemed to think he was playing RB on Saturday. Don't think Janmaat minded either as it meant he could have the afternoon off.

Don't think anyone will disagree there. Like anything in life you need balance in football. A mixture of attacking, defensive, old and young players. At the moment we seemed to have half the squad being 21 and wanting to play the number 10 role, it truly is shambolic.

Earned us 3 points today.

That movement for his second last night was something you expect from an experienced striker, not an 18 year old kid. He had read the flick on before the ball had even reached the player to flick it on. Really think he is our best hope at an academy lad breaking into the first team for a while. I think we need to invest in the defence and central midfield before a striker to be honest.
-
He's played 105 minutes in the Premier League this season (Thauvin has played nearly 300 in comparison) and didn't play for most of last season. Don't have a clue how you can be writing him off at this stage.

Apparently left footed as well. Love a good right foot, left foot CB pairing.

So I decided to watch the Galaxy v Sounders game last night and it was quite enjoyable, in large part due to the chaotic defending. Gary Neville and Carragher would be pulling their hair out. Why is the MLS defending so bad? . It seems to be the same across most MLS games I've seen. Professional players who don't have a clue where they should be positionally, very little organization in the defence, players diving in to needless tackles. It really doesn't surprise me that the likes of Bradley Wright Phillips (who struggled in the English 3rd division) can get 20+ a season. Why don't teams concrete on improving their defence?

Not too sure how he can be deemed not good enough after 10 or so games when we have actually shown a vast improvement. We've gone from playing some of the most turgid football known to man to looking like a good footballing outfit but with an obviously weak defence. Is McClaren the long term future? No, but he shouldn't be sacked yet man. Any new manager would take a month or so to get to know the players. Sacking him is a recipe for relegation, especially considering who would possibly come in. We keep playing like we did Sunday and we will stay up no bother, they didn't have a sniff until that ridiculous pen decision. Fat Sam looked extremely worried. One clever tactic I noticed McClaren instilled was Colback and Tiote dropping into the full back positions when Janmaat and Dummett were getting forward. It made us look a lot more solid and something Pardew would never be able to think of. Considering we had 60% possession, 20 plus shots and dominated the game, what would the people wanting McClaren out change yesterday?

Drugs are bad Love how there seems to be a Reddit-esque circle-jerk against the guy on this forum Fair enough you didn't think he played well, but there seems to be no room to praise him in any way on here.
-
I'm by no means Colbacks biggest fan, he will never play expansive football or be a creative player, so not too sure what people expect from him. When you have a leaky defence sometimes you need someone like Colback in there to help cover the gaps and relieve some pressure, which is what he did effectively today. We should definitely be replacing him in January when if we get a new CB and CM but for Colback I thought he did well today and put a great shift in.
-
Great game today, put some vital blocks in and some great defending in and around our own box. Team looked completely different when Anita came in for Tiote as well.
-
Can't wait to see him put a big performance in against Chelsea to put himself in the shop window.

We are going to have the attack of a Europa league team and the defense of a league 1 team, let's see how this plays out.
