You can guarantee we are getting James Tomkins this window like, its just inevitable. He'll probably be placed ahead of MYM in the pecking order aswell just to really round everything off.

I'd had thought they would have gone with DrinKinnear.
-
Is that based on anything other than him being a black centre half or not? Could be the next Denzel Washington as well. Next black kid gif kid. I was more thinking they have a similar style; powerful players who can bully forwards on their day but are too slow and can make the odd mistake. Again you could argue he was free so whats to lose.

TBH think we have dodged a bullet there, was destined to be the next Cacapa.

Nabbed this from another forum http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tn ... 2112590079 for those that cannot read it "Why Llambias resigned and Kinnear got the job? I found this on one of the forums and thought it was an interesting post, either true of false! From a guy his name is Stephen Finn and apparently his uncle works within the club as a manager of the in ground Customer Service team. Apparently Ashley decided Llambias and Pardew were too close and after the meeting he gave Alan one more chance and offered Llambias resignation or the sack. Llambias chose to fall on his sword and would resign as soon as the formalities of finding a new MD had taken place. Mike Ashley loves Joe Kinnear and apparently Kinnear is flat broke and when this opportunity presented itself Ashley decided to spilt the MD role in 2. Football and Financial. Kinnear will deal with all footballing related issues whilst the new person will continue the corporate side of things detailing to sponsorship, merchandise and other things of that fashion. Joe will report back to Mike about team morale, both playing staff and management, will offer advice and will actively be involved in transfers by trying to find the middle ground between the managers wishes and the recommendations of the head scout. Kinnear will also talk in the press regarding footballing matters relating to Ashley’s views and desires but will not act as a voice for the team, players or management. Basically he is there to offer his knowledge and experience to all at the club and has been told not to step on Alan’s toes. The new director of finances will look to bring in better deals than Llambias and will be tasked with finding exciting opportunities that offer both respectability and better financial implications. They will also be tasked with finding income for future transfers. Ashley himself will take control of negotiations once the management team have decided which player(s) to go for. Mike was seemingly furious with last season and the way all his hard work to get the Geordies back onside had been demolished by Alan Pardew, Derek Llambias and others within the club advising him on footballing matters. He decided that whilst the stock is already low he would ring the changes now and suffer the consequences. He truly believes Kinnears passion, experience and attitude can be used for the good of the club and that he will help motivate Alan Pardew (who by all accounts is miserable after last season) the coaches and the players. Finally the club will actively look to get rid of the dead weight after Kinnear has talked to Pardew and Carr before signing some real quality. Apparently Carr is massively respected by Ashley and Graham doesn’t share the same view as Pardew relating to some of the first team players (Ameobi, Obertan, Steven Taylor and Gutierrez). In conclusion Kinnear will be the advisor to Ashley and also the mediator between Alan and Graham. Llambias apparently sided too much with Pardew over certain issues within the club and Mike wants a more balanced view. It was said to have been Derek’s fault we didn’t sign players last Summer and his fault we missed out on Remy in Jan. When Mike got involved we signed 5 players and we will start next week on finding new players once Kinnear has listened to Alan and Graham and relayed his own thoughts to Mike. Also this deal regarding Douglas is reportedly dead in the water based on Graham Carrs recommendations. Apparently we will be looking for the best deals not the cheapest, hence why Douglas will not be coming in. He was the cheapest CB on the list but so far down Carr’s recommendations that the deal was called off." Interesting points raised here, all speculation obviously but there are bits of it that make sense when you read elsewhere about Llambias ramblings

The fundamental thing I don't get it is why someone like Ashley and Llambias who seem to know very little about football would invest so heavily in a football club. For me if I was going to invest millions into anything I'd do extensive research and make sure I know the market inside out, its past, its present where its heading, thus I'd know best how to spend my money, not just employ my mate who's record is questionable. Anyone who has followed football over the last few years know its now in a transitional period, the old guard of clouters and the physical style of football has been figured out and is becoming obselete, due to the emergence of new young ambitious managers who are alot more knowledgable in terms of tactics and man management; the skill level of a football manager is rising sharpely. Football management is evolving and becoming alot more complex like everything else, and just like evolution its battle of the fittest, if you can't adapt your a goner exemplified by O'Neill or Hughes. Surely someone who has made millions through using his brain can work out that if your going to buy these technical foreign players you need a technical manager to suit, its not rocket science. Unless English football mentality changes, the only way Newcastle will ever be successful is if we get a foreign manager in charge, a guy who has spent hours reading about the game, and can not only think what his opponent is thinking but what his opponent thinks he is thinking and what his opponent thinks he is thinking about his opponent etc, in essence its becoming a chess game and who can go the deepest in addition to the man management aspects of the job. The weird thing is due to these technical managers being better they are generally able to work on alot tighter budget which is right up Ashleys street, I just don't get why Ashley is so reckless when it comes to his own money, and just gives jobs to his boys. Thats the frustrating thing for me and why Ashley and Pardew annoy me so much, we have it, we have everything in place to be at the top competing year in and year out all we need is people at the top who know a little bit about football and are prepared to be initiative and push the boundaries and yet we seem to always be stuck with the village idiots willing to sap money out the club and just take the advertising and TV money. Its like watching an A* student sitting at the back of the class picking his nose and laughing at James Corden.

Who are the alternatives? Such a weak argument, okay we have: René Girard- Won French league with Montpellier HSC against the likes of PSG, will intergrate well with French, is desperate to work in the Premier league, has specifically stated he loves projects, relatively cheap wages, is leaving Montpellier at the end of the season so will be free. Christian Gourcuff- considered in France as a shrewd tactician with a strong commitment to attacking football and an eye for young talent. Gus Poyet- Young, ambitious, cheap, available if the right buttons are pushed, good footballing philosophy, can work with youngster, has a good record. Rudi Garcia- Won the double with Lille, great football philosophy, worked with quite a few of ours players already such as Cabaye and Debuchy, rumoured to be leaving at the end of the season, exceptional with youth, won manager of the year, probably reasonably cheap. Murat Yakin- Slightly more unproven then the others but built a great attacking FC Basel side, young and ambitious maybe worth a punt. Philippe Montainer- Had Real Sociedad challenging for the Champions League, tactically sound, likes to intergrate youth, works well with small transfer budget. Less realisitic but still options if Ashley wants to show ambition Benitez- we already know all about. Martinez- we already know all about. So this there are no other options argument is ridiculous, all you have to do is change the channel and watch some other top leagues and its obvious there is a legion of young ambitious managers who would jump at the opportunity to manager a Premier League team.

It was suicide by the players on the pitch and not Pardew at the end of the day.. there was a good chance it was going to finish 1-1 or at worst 2-1 which in the circumstances would have been a good result. Think Pardew's set up was on the money tonight.

No way near an ITK but been informed by a fairly reliable source that Cisse is going to see the Newcastle doctor today regarding a virus and there is a chance he may not travel to Russia..
