I've always wondered if there was more to his injury (back injury, wasn't it?) than was made out. He was playing and doing well until the injury, then struggled to get back in the team, despite the team form around new year. Always wondered if the injury was worse than let on, and Rafa / the medical team didn't have confidence in him completing matches. Anyway, disappointing of he does go, as he looked decent when he first arrived.

Yep - unless they change / have changed the policy, and the fee was paid up front rather than installments, then pointless selling him. Even for stupid money, if it only gets drip fed back into the club each year, then were massively worse off. Sissoko was a one-off.... you'd never get that sort of offer/money for him again, whilst Lascelles is young and his value can still rise ,so we should be able to set our price/terms.

Spot on. Now here is the question; who insists on the instalments the buying club or us? I know which one I think. Pretty sure I remember the club confirming in the past, that it is us who requests installments - excuse given, that it it gives us an ongoing cashflow, and allows us to demand higher fees, if the buying club is able to spread the cost. Sure the club also confirmed at same time that we pay fees upfront, to avoid the kind of ongoing costs that Ashley inherited for players. Whether any of that have become flexible under Benitez, is unclear though, with the club supposedly now owing money for players (in the accounts).

Not their new manager... their new Managing Director!
-
Jack Ross is the new boss at the Stadium of Light, as new millionaire owner Stewart Donald's Sunderland revolution continues. Donald says: "he turned down lucrative offers from clubs in a higher division." Aye, of course he did.

Jack 'Who' Ross confirmed as their New Manager... their 8th 'permanent' manager in 5 years.

Haha fantastic job in that thread mate. They are already grasping at 6 in a row posts Rattled, marra Haha, that thread. Whilst the post itself is not from a 'St Mirren fan in peace', it comes from a 'die hard' who is 'good mates' with the poster. Then another just randonly bumps into a St Mirren fan on holiday yesterday, who also gives a glowing reference and best wishes to him and SunderLOL. Then they revert to type, and anyone who mentions any kind of doubt or caution about Ross is immediately called a mag. Not sure whats happened to Sima on there though - banned again? I can see their quotes of your posts, but not the actual posts.

Its a pity Totalsport finished for the summer last friday.... they've missed all the mackems 'excitement'. On Monday when 'The Don' took over, Radio Newcastle had a sports bulletin after the news at 5:30pm which mentioned it, and then stated that whilst totalsport was off for the summer, they'd have a special show if there was any big local sport news to discuss. Then the music was back on. The Don taking over obviously not considered big enough news to have a Totalsport special, then. Hehe.

Rather have Jack Ross than Rafa Beneyth us, Marra. I honestly said.... 'WHO?' when i read it.

Love how all the headlines on Twitter, etc are saying they've been 'taken over by International Consortium'.
-
Aye, PP not mentioned at all in that article. Surely they should be a factor?!
-
I wonder if these accounts will be the clubs reason for another meagre spend this summer, despite the uplift in TV revenues earned this season. Last summer we couldn't spend as we'd just got promoted. This summer, we wont spend as we are still recovering from the losses EFL season.

Dunno, but Ms Staveley has gone very quiet since her interview with Caulkin, where she stated she was still interested, and would come back once safety was secured. Suppose a leak of West Ham (or any other clubs) interest in Rafa could also be trying to put pressure on her to come back with another offer, if his position as manager is indeed key to their takeover.

Another typical woolly statement from Ashley. Agree with above... stating the players are not championship players is almost suggesting that they are and have been good enough - thus, no need to spend. Then he uses the 'every penny the club generates' line again. As we know, its not necessarily the amount of money that's the issue - its the inbeciles that do the deals, not bidding enough, or dragging their feet, or not pursuing the managers first choices. That is what needs to change - bit nothing in the statement suggests that will be the case. Anyway, lets see what happens next. Hopefully they will agree to give Rafa the authority he wants/needs to do the deals he wants, and we can push on next summer and build on a decent finish.

Strange article that. Strange in that, it includes quite a few things I specifically remember them discussing on Totalsport this week, including almost word for word quotes from Anderson about how Rafa would like to spend any funds (the bit about 1 player for x or multiples players for y each). Almost like Craig Hope has created an article from stuff/soundbites he's heard on Totalsport.

I recognise that chap on the left. Thats "Odd Bodd junior" out of carry on screaming. Wasn't sure who that was so googled him.... Buckled! http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2010/02/10/article-1249810-0835BDAB000005DC-65_233x276.jpg

If Cardiff don’t go up, I’d throw good money at Warnock if I was them. Why would either drop down to that cesspool? Surely they could easily get jobs in the Champo. McCarthy has already briefed the local media that he wants it apparently. Mental cunt. Did they not hound him out last time?
