  1. Bruno

    Gonçalo Ramos

Just scored. Dynamo 0-2 Benfica, 37'
  2. Bruno

    Gonçalo Ramos

Odysseas, Gilberto, Otamendi, Morato, Grimaldo, Florentino, Enzo, Neres, Rafa, João Mário and Gonçalo Ramos. Gonçalo will play against Dynamo Kiev.
  3. Bruno

    Gonçalo Ramos

The title of this thread is incorrect. Gonçalo is with the Benfica squad in Poland. Edit: see that is fixed. According to Portuguese press, Gonçalo will most likely not play tonight. Yaremchuk or Henrique Araújo are the most likely starters. We will see in a few minutes.
  4. Seems like he was waiting for City and Liverpool. He rejected West Ham a couple of weeks ago. Probably received Mendes' confirmation that the biggest clubs were not interested.
  5. Matheus Nunes can be world class. Terrific signing for Wolverhampton. Would walk into United's 11 easily. Weird of them not to sign him.
  6. Bruno

    Gonçalo Ramos

Just scored. That will be more 10M€.
  7. That is correct. Unless you say "100M€ and you have to accept within 48h" we will not sell before the CL playoff against Dynamo Kiev. After that I believe there is some chance Benfica sells.
  8. Gonçalo is our main striker. Last year he played as an offensive mid/third midfielder and Darwin was our main attacking threat. After Darwin's departure Gonçalo finally started playing as a striker (his best role). He started this season very well and fits Roger Schmidt's system (an high pressing 4-2-3-1). He is a hard worker and good finisher. Has the potential to be the striker of our NT in the near future. We have some other decent strikers so Benfica may be willing to sell. I would not. I believe price would be around 40M€+.
  9. I was Newcastle's Bruno before being Bruno was cool. Congrats on the recent developments, seems like you have a good team in the making. Hopefully you will soon be back in Europe.
  10. Apologies if I misunderstood. Are they complaining about being the last fans to leave the stadium? If so, this is standard in Portugal. You do not want to have clashes between... less friendly fans. Or even worst, regular folks being surprised by groups of ultras. Seems like a smart decision, even more considering that this was a particularly intense match. If they were hold off for the trophy and then left at the same time, just stupid.
  11. We are missing a center midfielder, a winger/offensive mid and potentially a keeper. Close to our best team.
  12. Usually in the left but is now playing more in the middle, behind the striker. He is our best player.
  13. Thank you, I try my best.
  14. Season ticket holders have the right to watch this game but many will not.
  15. João Victor is yet to make his debut and will most likely be a sub for us. Diogo Gonçalves is crap. Please take him.
  16. Ruben Dias who played last night is supposed to be decent, but I guess they need another centre back to partner him. Rúben Dias and Ferro will be Portugal's CBs for many years. They play together for about 8 years now, after joining Benfica youth system in 2008 and 2011 respectively. Both born in 1997. Both starters for Benfica. I prefer Ferro (better on the ball) but Rúben Dias reached Benfica and Portugal's first team sooner. Pepe will be 37 and José Fonte 36 at Euro 2020 and are rapidly declining so was surprising to see Ferro out of the list for the UEFA Nations League final four. Hopefully he will start being called for the national team before Euro 2020. There are many decent under 30y players across all positions: GK: Anthony Lopes (28y, Lyon) CB: Ruben Dias (22y, Benfica), Ferro (22y, Benfica), Diogo Leite (20y, Porto), Diogo Queirós (20y, Porto) FB: Nelson Semedo (25y, Barcelona), João Cancelo (25y, Juventus), Raphael Guerreiro (25y, Borussia Dortmund), Ricardo Pereira (25y, Leicester), Diogo Dalot (20y, Man. United), Mário Rui (28y, Napoli), Rúben Vinagre (20y, Wolverhampton) CM: Danilo (27y, Porto), William Carvalho (27y, Betis), Ruben Neves (22y, Wolverhampton), Renato Sanches (21y, Bayern), Gedson Fernandes (20y, Benfica), Florentino Luís (19y, Benfica) OM: Bernardo Silva (24y, Man. City), Bruno Fernandes (24y, Sporting), Pizzi (29y, Benfica), João Mário (26y, Inter), João Carvalho (22y, Nottingham Forest) Wingers: Rafa Silva (26y, Benfica), Diogo Jota (22y, Wolverhampton), Gelson Martins (24y, Monaco), Bruma (24y, Leipzig), Rony Lopes (23y, Monaco), Hélder Costa (25y, Wolverhampton) Forwards: Gonçalo Guedes (22y, Valência), João Félix (19y, Benfica), André Silva (23y, Milan), Rafael Leão (20y, Lille) Looking at players over 30y old, the only who should start are Rui Patrício (31y), Cristiano Ronaldo (34y) and (sometimes) Moutinho (32y). Pepe and José Fonte are naturally declining and should be on the bench during Euro2020.
  17. Sporting CP's president suspended the entire squad... via Facebook. After Sporting CP's defeat in Madrid (2-0, vs Atlético), Sporting CP's president Bruno de Carvalho posted on Facebook criticising his own players commitment and willingness to play. Later on 19 players shared a post on social media, basically saying they deserve support and not criticism. A few hours later Bruno de Carvalho posted once more, suspending all of those players who posted the group message on Facebook and Instagram (meaning the players will not play for the team and cannot access the club's facilities). New developments say that (i) even some players that did not post on social media are suspended (notably Bast Dost); (ii) Fábio Coentrão seen his loan terminated and will return to Madrid; (iii) the B team may show up for next game, although there is a lot a pressure on Bruno de Carvalho at the moment. He might cave. Rough translation of these back and fourth messages immediately below. (by Bruno de Carvalho, on his personal facebook) UPDATE: EVERYONE THAT CAME TO MY PERSONAL PAGE GIVING MORAL LESSONS OR TO DISTORT WHAT I WROTE, HAVE NOW BEEN TAKEN ACCESS TO THE SAME. IN THEIR CASE, ABOUT MY PERSONAL PAGE WILL START TO UNDERSTAND "WHY THEY STAY AT HOME!" LAST HOUR: WHO SEES THIS AS AN ATTACK TO THE PLAYERS HAS A SERIOUS PROBLEM! EUROPA LEAGUE: WHAT FUTURE? WE HAVE TO FILL THE STADIUM!!!! What I wanted to see: A focused team, with attitude and compromise, impeccable defensively and with goal. From 11 to outdo themselves and become 22. What I saw: A team with attitude but a defense that was unfocused. Coates and Mathieu did what Atletico's strikers couldn't. And the 2-0 came up with them [Atletico] doing nothing to deserve it, apart from (and it's not much) scoring. Gelson at 32' 1on1 with Oblak instead of shooting [powerfully] to the left tries to aim but without strength to the right side losing a goal that was almost being celebrated. From the 11, instead of the 22 I wanted we were 9, many times, and we paid for it. Fabio [Coentrão] and Bas Dost "didn't want to play" at Alvalade, with fouls for yellow cards that couldn't ever been done; Diego Costa was "untouchable" since he "asked" for yellow numerous times but couldn't get it, although he deserved it for the effort. A free kick not called right after the area due to an handball from an Atletico player at the 83 minute mark. Hands and face still are confusing to the Russians. A foul at the 87th minute by the back that should've been awarded a yellow card to the Atletico player, that showcased that the referee had different criteria. Coates 1 on 1 and without focus instead of shooting passes to Oblak. And, to end, Montero at the 92nd minute skyrockets the ball when it was only asked of him to tap it. Atletico didn't dominate but won 2-0. Sporting showed that has a team for more but didn't do it. Now instead of having it easier at home, the only thing left is to dream of a comeback. Is it possible? It is! Was this result necessary? No! Living the game from afar is a lot harder but seeing grotesque mistakes from international and experienced player just adds salt to the wound. Thank you to the 4000 Sporting fans that went to Madrid. You are unique! #MADEOFSPORTING (by the squad, on their personal Facebook and Instagram) We are Sporting Clube de Portugal, in the name of the squad we announce the following... We sweat, fight and honor always the shirt we wear. We are not perfect and we don't believe in perfect players because we want to always evolve! There aren't perfect player nor perfect teams but when things don't go as we want them we know how to assume the responsibilities. We all have to do it! When we win, draw or lose... yes... because in football this results are possible, everyone has the responsibility! We are a team! We are a united group of a great club where respect is one of the basis for the union. We can't think only on "Me" but on "Us" and always as a team because only then we can win. In our club, in our national teams, we always gave and will keep giving our best, because the will is a constant. We are professionals, we are human! Our integrity and our commitment is sacred! Effort, dedication, devotion and glory always! We give 100% for Sporting Clube de Portugal, we give the max for ourselves as a team, individually as athletes. We fight for our Club, for our fans and for ourselves, always! There's no other way of being in professional football other than this one... For this reason in the name of the entire squad, we mirror in this text our displeasure with the public declarations of our president after yesterday's game in which we had a result that we did not want... the absence of support in this moment... from the one that should be our leader. Pointing the finger to publicly blame the performance of the athletes, when the union of a group is made by the effort of everyone no matter the occasion, every subject are resolved inside the group. Let's be aware that even tho there are many difficulties there is still plenty to fight for. We have a final sprint in various competition and we will go united, giving our max for the club. We are Sporting Clube de Portugal. (by Bruno de Carvalho, on his personal facebook) SPOILED KIDS, LET'S RESOLVE THIS THEN... Sporting is not the Banana Republic. Every single athlete that wrote what I'm about to describe is now immediately suspended and will face the club's discipline. I'm done with the attitudes of spoiled kids that do not respect anything or anyone, like for example the fans from whom I'm heard the comments bellow that are from the lowest level. This spoiled kids think they will go far but this time my patience is done for anyone that thinks they are above the club and any criticism . They start with "We are Sporting" and that there isn't a "Me " but an "Us", that's only a mere fantasy because in reality they aren't. They are rotating professionals and what interests them is not the "Me" or the "Us" but the "them". (...) Bruno de Carvalho also called in to a TV show to criticize the commentators that were talking about him. Currently suspended: And this is why the portuguese league (Tugão) is far superior to the Premier League.
  18. According to portuguese media, signed for Villarreal. No official statement yet.
  19. Ruben does lack mental attributes. The remaining competences - speed, power, technique - seem to be there. It also should be considered that Eric Dier seemed crap while he was in Lisbon and now he established himself in the Premier League. Playing for Sporting is quite demotivating, especially for a benfiquista. Semedo was involved in a turmoil after writing on Facebook, as an u-18 Sporting player, "all of you know that I support Benfica, but for now I represent Sporting... but just for now". Regarding Nelson Semedo: they're not related. Nelson is negotiating with Barcelona, according to portuguese press.
  20. Another product from Benfica's academy. The amount of quality coming through the ranks in recent years is unbelievable. André Gomes (Barcelona), Renato Sanches (Bayern) Bernardo Silva (Mónaco) Hélder Costa (Wolves), Ivan Cavaleiro (Wolves) Gonçalo Guedes (PSG) Hélder Costa is currently on loan but according to portuguese media Wolves will activate their 15M€ option. If there was any doubt, todays game ended it...
  21. Marco Silva is a good manager. He'll eventually manage Benfica, no doubt about it. He was the fan favourite to replace Jorge Jesus and are there are still numerous Facebook pages about the subject. However, Benfica's president chose Rui Vitória. https://pt-pt.facebook.com/marcosilvatreinadorbenfica/ https://www.facebook.com/marcosilvabenfica/ https://pt-pt.facebook.com/Marco-Silva-para-treinador-do-Sport-Lisboa-e-Benfica-1407830642770108/ https://pt-pt.facebook.com/events/852589934819287/ Hugo Oliveira, former Benfica GK coach (worked with Ederson, Oblak and Julio César) joined Marco Silva staff. He was currently in charge of all Benfica 's GKs youth development. http://sport360.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Hugo-Oliveira-Benfica.jpg http://www.maisfutebol.iol.pt/multimedia/oratvi/multimedia/imagem/id/586e42460cf233ac136ad827/1024.jpg Good choice, in my opinion.
  22. http://abload.de/img/a34uep.png Who knew 18 months ago that would be Benfica taking him on a free. André Carrillo.
