We won't lose games because of Paul Dummett. I disagree. He brings nothing to the attack and is one of the poorest first-choice LBs out there in the Premier League. Lucky he's a left back and not a left winger. He's primary duty is to defend and at that he is very decent. Rafa will have us defending first, that's why he's getting a new contract. I'm not expecting Roberto Carlos or Ashley Cole. Someone who doesn't s*** themselves when in possession, can at least offer an overlap and deliver a decent cross. To not have that in the Premier League is shocking and we'll be found out badly. Dummett is a CB. In the modern game, a left back has to be able to do something with the ball at his feet. He's played about 2 games at CB in his entire career

He was 22, players at that age will generally improve. As I already said, clubs do buy young players as backups initially but those players are expected to improve and become starters eventually. I think Spurs knew he would be backup last season but were hoping he would do well when he got chances, so that if Kane left he would be able to take over from him in a couple of years time.

Not many good clubs buy many outfield players over the age of say 25 as backups. Of course they buy young players who will fulfil that role for a season or two(which I would much prefer) but those players are generally expected to break into the team at some stage

The only league goal he scored for us was one where he accidentally kicked the ball off his other foot and it went over the keeper iirc
