Talk of Carr coming back reminded me (for some reason) - what's wor Ian Cathro up to these days? Don't laugh too much at this but I quite liked the guy and when Rafa kept him around I remember having this (laughably naive obviously) idea that Rafa would manage us for like 5-10 years and 'groom' (for lack of a better word) Cathro to take over in some kind of Bobby/Mourinho type deal

I still have mixed feelings about Carr, like Obviously he brought in McClaren which is a big red mark on his profile. Whether that was because they were mates or because he actually thought it was a good appointment I don't know, either way it was a terrible decision. To what extent he was complicit and another patsy/yes man for Ashley I'm not sure either. He did want to resign when Uncle Joe became DoF (IIRC), and I want to believe that was because he knew the guy was a joke and (maybe) wanted no part of that setup with him involved. What I mean is that I wanna give him the benefit of the doubt that he actually wanted the best for the club. He also brought in a fair share of duds like fucking Riviere, but, it's hard to know how far down the list guys like that were. Also have to look at the managers guys like Cabella/Thauvin played under. He DID bring in some genuine talent like Cabaye and others. I've seen some argue that oh, the French league wasn't being scouted much then by other clubs so we had an untapped market, which seems like a ridiculous argument honestly. So idk how I feel about the guy really, I think I can say that of all the jokers and assholes of the Ashley regime, Carr is probably low down on my hate list
