  1. Be nervous as f*** if he was still there. They'd have 16 year olds out there. They'd still probably win tbh. At the last day of 08-09 season, after Man Utd had clinched the title, they went to Hull for their final match. Hull needed a win to survive and Man Utd fielded a completely reserve team, almost resting everyone for the CL final. Man Utd still won the game thanks to a Gibson screamer and Hull ended up getting relegated. As did youse, but this time there is only one spot available, so the odds are looking better.
  2. I can't believe this has come to this. It'd have take a magician to have Newcastle as a legit relegation candidate at final day of the season after beating Villa 1-0 with Cisse scoring in February. He's actually gone and done it. Think any result bar a Man Utd win tomorrow, and you guys are in deep trouble. Froggy owes this to this place. He simply has to deliver.
  3. I can't believe he didn't celebrate. Real fans don't give a fuck about any plater. They've been throwing abuse at Casillas/Ramos/Hierro/Salgado/Carlos/etc in the past. They won't give a shit about how Morata does or celebrate, yet he doesn't celebrate. Not celebrating is bs. I can understand if it's Lampard vs. Chelsea when you've served a club for many years....but Shane Long vs. Hull , or Morata vs. Juve ? give me a fucking break.
  4. Dortmund 2013 Atleti 2014 Juve 2015 3 years in a row we have CL finalists with squads assembled at an absolute fraction of a cost of 75% of PL sides.
  5. Don't think it's a good result for Real. Juve will rest every single player of theirs over the weekend, whereas Madrid have a must win game against a very good Valencia side that will rattle them. Also, An Italian team needing a 0-0 in advance ? As Klopp said, it's the toughest possible task. It's important that Juve don't concede early next week, but even if they do I don't think it's curtains. This Madrid team is always good for giving up a goal or two and Juve are well capable. 3 years ago, Bayern took a 2-1 lead to Burnabeu and was blitzed by 2 really quick Ronaldo goals and I thought they'd go on to get smashed. But they came back and took it to pens and won it and I think this Juve team is better than Bayern of 2011-12. Just slightly.
  6. Rafa with his 7th European semi final in the last 12 years (2 of which he was outta work). Love him to win it and a great draw to reach the final in Warsaw. My ex-flatmate that we lived in Warsaw together is a Napoli STH and I told him to start looking for towards to Warsaw already. Stadion Naradowy is gorgeous....it'll be an amazing experience for whoever is in Warsaw at the time of the year. On the other hand, I'm flying to London this Wednesday for the weekend, and the only fucking PL game in London next weekend is Westham-Burnley....not even a single crucial final match-day championship game for me to go to. Gutting !
  7. You reminded me of us this season under Lambert. Constant tactics fiddling, enough passing the ball around, zero purpose. Team didn't look like they knew what they were doing. What on earth was Rodgers thinking bringing Rickie Lambert on on 91 minutes? You're losing, Brendan. You're wasting time, which is what we're supposed to be doing. We played well, but I can honestly say I've seen us play better than that this season, and come away with less, and sometimes nothing. Rodgers strikes me as an informed tactician, but one who doesn't really get how to make it work on the pitch, especially when the opposition aren't making it easy for you. It's also worth noting that only QPR currently have more injured players than we do. We played on Sunday with a not very good right winger at right back and a really poor midfielder at left back. We also had our best defender this season - Clark who has improved out of all recognition this year - out, and also were without Agbonlahor, who, despite not being exactly prolific, usually does well for us in matches like this. On top of that, we lost Baker in the first half, and had a 19 year old who had only started one game in his life playing. I'm the most pessimistic Villa fan you'll find, but I genuinely didn't think we'd lose that game for a moment on Sunday. Liverpool really need to be a bit worried. We look devoid of identity because we chop and change formations 5 times a game. As a fan watching from a 150' projector at the pub, I was confused what's going on, let alone the players. This whole pissing about at the back passing between centerbacks needs to stop. Center backs should be able to find midfield players in pockets of space to build up the play..the Lovren-Skrtel passes together achieves NOTHING except inviting pressing from opposition and us not finding a way through it due to lack of a proper holding midfielder, hence surrounding momentum and initiative to you. That's why we massively miss Sakho at the back when he doesn't play (And despite all the media-driven agenda crap, he's statistically by far our best forward passing defender as his 90% pass completion rate per game, with near 75% of his passes of the time find a midfielder rather than another defender). Still zero excuse for that pathetic excuse that the whole team looked like they had had a collective wank before the game. Yet another big game of going to our shell and being outfought and losing 50/50s. Not marking the opponents obvious biggest threat (Something Mourinho did with Zouma on Fellaini, but we didn't do anything to stop Benteke) and more. 6 dead rubbers left, but 6 dead rubbers that could decide his faith IMO. If the team gives up on the league like they did with Kenny in 2012, I think his ass will be twitching come end of the season. He needs to keep them motivated and finish the season on a somewhat high spirits....still, my fear is if they sack him, they'd replace him with another inexperienced flavour of the month like Monk or Howe, as opposed to proven managers like Klopp or Rafa (Who'd give his left nut to comeback). Time will tell. Meanwhile, good luck to you guys next month. Be nice to see you win it for Sherwood's celebration vine alone.
  8. Think Rodgers will be a viable option for you guys, come this summer. Today the sad reality hit that he's likely to be a "winner without winning" type of manager. Moyes-esque. Aston villa were made to look like prime Barcelona, whereas we played with so much fear and a non-existent game plan. 3rd big game bottled in space of less than a month. You can't expect to win trophies when you play players out of sentimentality in cup semis or refuse to adopt to to your ideals. Idealism is very dangerous.
  9. Potential Sevilla-Napoli final is very exciting. Sevilla must be one of the most well-run clubs in the world in the last decade or so, same with Porto. The men behind the appointments and transfers of those clubs are utter geniuses. Massive game coming up for Rodgers on Sunday. If no top 4 (Well there won't be barring a miracle) and no cup win...with Rafa and Klopp both available this summer....I think things may get twitchy for him. Not sure how to feel about it, I'm just pretty much on the fence. Let's see what happens in the next month.
  10. @pixelpish....men 2010 (I was 19), girls a couple of months ago.
  11. I particularly liked that time he was racist and the biting. Unlike most of internet keyboard and Social Justice Warriors, I don't pretend to be a perfect person. In heat of moment situations I myself have made inappropriate comments and bitten another person. What you do in rare instance or a one-off, doesn't define you as a person for the other 99.5% of the time. For example, If I ever got into power in a country...One of my first orders of business would be complete destruction of all religious venues and banning of all sort of religious practices and signs in public.
  12. Suarez really is an all-time great player. My favourite player and football personality ever since starting to watch the game regularly in 1996. His eagerness, caring, mentality and drive is something else.
  13. Was working during the match. Just saw the extended highlights and read the match thread. Seemed to be an uninspiring game really...think we're in for a real battle on sunday at Wembley. Also...I think the reception for Jonas was class and the comments about it stemming about Scousers loving grief are a bit out of order. Cancer is an absolute cunt of a disease and I'm sure majority of us has lost a friend or relative to it one way or another and overcoming it should be celebrated. I know not exactly popular among your lot (Liverpool fans I mean), but that was a great moment. Glad to have contributed to sack of Carver at the end of the season. though I still thin you need one more win or draw to be completely safe.
  14. Looks like Wales and Northern Ireland are a shoe-in for qualification now. Think Ireland are pretty doomed if they don't win tonight, which hopefully they won't. Finland may as well give up on football. Hungary are @2.7 to beat Greece in Budapest. Printing money basically
  15. So what happens if all three of Dnipro/Dynamo Kiev and Zenit get through to Semis ? They just won't do draws and pair the Ukrainian sides together and let Zenit get the winner of Wolfsburg vs. Napoli ? That'd be mad. A Ukrainian vs. Russia final in Poland would be boss though. Sevilla will win again I reckon though, sadly.
  16. Love a bit of anti-Semitism and monkey chants me. ^ to be fair, you hear monkey chants in Spain/Italy on weekly basis. and I've seen Spurs fans sing that anti-semite thingy whenever they are playing.
  17. I think this forum's hate for Liverpool will decrease a bit after summer when Gerrard AKA "STEVIEEEEE GGGGGGG" is gone. I'm perhaps biased, but from a neutral point of view, it's actually a quite like-able group of individuals in the team. Anyways, it's a bit of a mental turnaround. From one of the worst defences in the league, to not having conceded an away goal since December 14th and 2nd highest number of clean sheets in the league since switching to the back 3. More mental fact is, in case of a victory against Man Utd - would make the league form (11-2-0), Liverpool's form would have BETTERED last season's form from Arsenal to Crystal Palace game (11-1-1). Be a good game on Sunday hopefully.
  18. I don't get the point of all those players Chelsea buy/trade. They never add anything to their team. First binned De Bruyne for Schurrle then binned Mata for Salah then binned Schurrle AND Salah for Cuardrado They use such individually talented players as their version of Sammy Ameobi role. Baffling
  19. Think Ibra will be banned for many games. This was the same ref that sent Markovic off in the game vs. Basel back in December and he got a 4 match-ban from UEFA for that. Really can't see Ibra not matching that...bullshit I know, but that's how UEFA works. the only way to appeal is in case of mistaken identity.
  20. Surely Mata is going back to Spain in summer ? Can't get a game ahead of Fellaini as an attacking midfielder and Valencia now cash-rich and likely to be in CL. looks a no brainer on paper
  21. Newcastle with three home losses all season - Man City, Sunderland, Southampton Man Utd with three away wins all season- Arsenal, Southampton, QPR (in Arsenal/Saints games they had 3 shots on target combined and scored 4 somehow) Logic says it's likely be 4 and 4 by the end of the night, but as long as you score at least one goal, think a point is secured. Pretty please.
  22. They'll be missing three of their better players through suspension and injury (Yarmelonko, Belhanda and Mkobani), still a tough one especially with return leg in a chaotic Kiev. Hope you go out ASAP Some good ties there. Wolfsburg-Inter, Villareal-Sevilla, Fiorentina-Roma will be quality . A potential last 8 of Kiev, Ajax, Zenit, Wolfsburg, Sevilla, Napoli, Besiktas, and Roma looks quality on paper.
  23. What an awful way to go out of the cup. Really fucks me when players look disinterested in a European game. the shift Sturridge put in was the most disinterested I've seen since Victory Moses playing for us last season. Very annoyed with it. Now that Legia are out as well, really hope an Eastern European team like Kiev or something makes a good run. 5 Italian teams left, which is a big surprise. So gutted not to be in the draw tomorrow. Speaking of that, Bilic is one hell of a manager. Did wonders with Croatia and Besiktas looked a very well coached team against all 3 English teams they faced this season. I think, ultimately, he'd be a dream appointment for a mid-tier English team like Newcastle or Westham. He's too good for Besiktas, and I think he'll be off if he wins the league with them this season.
