Ornstein was speaking with this north London hat on. As I’ve stated several times the premier league would find itself in a very deep crisis if it attempted to block these deals, they simply don’t have any form of robust rules to stop them. We the deal for Anderson has been completed and announce we can infer from that they have ratified it. It’s important to remember that the league has already over reached on an unprecedented scale already which has led to Man city’s legal action, they would need remarkably temerity to consider blocking a UK business from disposing an asset to another uk business. TLDR. The media noise about these deals is just that, noise if they want to attempt to stop them they will require a new rule to do so and they are already flying close the wind.

Neither of those are related parties
-
No such test exists as it wasn’t a related party transfer.
-
They’ve completely lost the plot.
-
With Eddie in charge I believe so yes. We also don’t really have to, they go on loan and develop and we then decide how to proceed.
-
Think of it like Tino and trips, Schars competition/ next in line.
-
We are nabbing talent from some real good academies it’s really good to see.
-
I’d be on board with that, personally I don’t see a couple of seasons playing elsewhere an issue at all. It’s a temporary measure and short term pain for long term gain. We will have to wait and see what they decide, I hope whatever we do it’s extensive we should be looking towards the next 100 years and not back at the prior.

Yeah spurs stadium doesn’t have a retractable pitch right? So it would make sense they are limited to summer (your weather point is also valid). Will be interesting if we do the same re the concourse but it doesn’t fix the other constraints outlined re listed buildings etc.
-
Concerts are difficult to do mid season due to the damage which would happen to the pitch (if it’s revenue you wanted to court you would want a retractable pitch). in order to extend the concourse would you have to knock the entire stand and rebuild it? I don’t think Liverpool are particularly relevant personally if you want to use the stadium to generate additional income as Anfield is obviously a football stadium which has been expended several times but not designed with other events in mind.
-
Fingers crossed, I do wonder which direction we go with this.
-
Spurs im sure did, I know they had Beyoncé beating out Wembley they have the nfl. Liverpool aren’t relevant to this as they also have an old stadium. Both a refurb and an expansion can only achieve so much. As others have said no refurb will give you more concourse space, no extension will change leazes terrace etc.
-
You could but not many due to the amount of set up time needed etc. your only real window to do so would be the summer etc. your still heavily limited on the upside just to the inherent restrictions in place.

Pre-season (2025/26) - NUFC to play Atletico Madrid in Sela Cup

Was thinking the same, given the opposition and its lack of repute sales might be slow for this. -
Yeah probably but it would run foul of related party transaction rules because it makes no commercial sense for the sponsor to renegotiate such an agreement upwards.
-
Next time round we will definitely be asking more and have metrics to back it up
-
If we have a contract with Sela which we do how do you propose we break it?

Listened to the athletic podcast about us and it was quite surprising tbh. Waugh and Ornstein between them were very surface level. No discussion on how ridiculous the rules are, we were slammed for our treatment of Minteh and Ornstein was parroting the north London line of well maybe we should check the communication of clubs involved in these deals it’s really alarming to me that the football media are happy to parrot this stuff, monitor clubs communication ffs can you even imagine? Also Waugh talking and parroting about cashflow? I don’t think that’s an issue for us so please don’t parrot it. We are restricted due to rules which make no sense and diminish the sporting integrity of the league that is the only reason. On a separate un related note, the FT yesterday said he the football regulator bill will be passed by labour pretty quickly so it will be interested if that impacts things.

Nice and Fiorentina iirc. -
Various reports indicating the deal was agreed on Friday aka when we had our FFP issues. The only way they paid us a decent amount was if it was after the cut off. lesson learnt hopefully.
-
Given Man United low ball offers previously I can’t see it being very much at all. Why would they move a lot knowing we had FFP issues.
-
[x] doubt.
-
No thanks. I’m generally against signing former Man United players (unless pinched from the academy). He will be on a canny wedge anarl. Paying a premium for tinos back up doesn’t make much sense.
-
I think another way to frame this discussion can anyone name a club in the premier league who attained consistent success (let’s set the bar low and say European qualification for say 5 out of 10 possible years) without having top 6 revenue? The point we are trying to illustrate is that it will be extremely difficult to challenge on a consistent basis and it will be a challenge to bridge the gap financial which would give us the best chance.

Toney is free this summer or next?
