  1. You’ll need it given the bag you will be dropping on Ashworth.
  2. I wouldn’t write them off, I don’t think it’s imminent or anything like that but they certainly have the finances to achieve it. They were never going to win it carrying those 3 though.
  3. Lauren’s love to stir. That being said I’m not concerned, at all. Would hate to lose Bruno but ultimately the rigged rules means we have to sell our best players at some point. Unfortunately that means we’ve always got to keep a firm eye on what’s next.
  4. They aren’t shit and they are a threat, they’ve been horrible at squad building though, always massively top heavy full of attackers that need carrying.
  5. Putting aside the relationship element here, but is Ashworth really the right appointment for them? Isn’t the structure ok in terms of academy medical, women’s team? Aren’t they basically dogshit at buying players and this isn’t really Ashworth strong suit either. Also, I know the media are wanting themselves silly over Ineos but haven’t they essentially made a pigs ear over this already? You’d have thought they would have reached out to us in double quick time to get us on side and playing ball, instead they’ve been leaking to the media non stop and grand standing about we will wait and we won’t pay whatever they want? To me it looks like they’ve gone into this with zero leverage and without a proper planning to try and get a mate on the cheap. All this talk of Barrada but is this even his appointment? If so, how can that be the case when he’s also on gardening leave and hasn’t started his role yet? It seems to be as though the media narrative and reality are quite different.
  6. If hughes was a step up why didn’t we appoint him when we appointed Ashworth? My point is this, Ashworth is gone we need the best possible replacement and someone who is elite/achieved elite things. In this case that for me wouldn’t be Richard Hughes. But again, this is me spitballing, I’m not the authority or the decision maker, I’m just one guy giving his opinion on an Internet forum.
  7. I don’t claim to be, I’m just giving my 2 cents on a forum which is in place to discuss NUFC related matters. Either way, I’m not sure what you’re actually debating here.
  8. Which is fine, you move on to the next target, but the consistent theme should be; has this person performed to an elite level in his current/previous role? If our ambition is to the best this has to be the measuring stick.
  9. Best in class would Michael Edwards imo. Anyone who can wrestle a league title from City is creme de la creme imo. and the reasoning is clear, the level of achievement is so high, it’s exactly what we need. We need extraordinary performers.
  10. Slight tweak to the job title jobs a good one.
  11. That is indeed true, but that is mainly based off misplaced credit from his time at Brighton, and him putting together or being credited for the elite performance program for England, now where is Richard Hughes equivalent? And I don’t want to be dunking on Richard Hughes, but appointing him would be most convenient and a red flag to me. If he’s the best candidate we can attract we have a lot of work to do and are someway behind where I thought we were.
  12. Aye, won’t be throwing toys will just be bitterly disappointed and it will give another clear indication (to me at least) just how much power Eddie holds. (Before I get ripped in to I’m a massive fan and I’m fully behind him). To me, it’s absolutely crucial the sporting director is a long term appointment as he’s the continuity guy, his job is to basically stop you becoming current day man united. I don’t see anything in Richard Hughes record or his signings which scream to me, he’s the man for the job, that being said if we do go for him boy do I hope he proves me wrong.
  13. Because we need best in class, with experience of European competition. I think it’s a question of ambition at this stage and Hughes would be classed as a step down on what we had.
  14. Your are right, we had to strengthen 3 positions last summer for the starting 11. LB, CM and RW and only managed one of the three (who later got suspended Our gamble has backfired of course the injuries play a massive role as well, but we basically tried to be cute and have been relentlessly punished.
  15. Don’t worry, the thing Froggy is deciding to ignore is the fact we already have the system described, it’s just titled in favour of clubs like Liverpool and Man United, they are just bitterly disappointed they couldn’t pull up the bridge before Chelsea and city took advantage. But hey, the league had space then, the owners of those clubs couldn’t give a shit about winning, it’s just about number going up for them. And don’t misunderstand me, I don’t think the game should be free of spending regulations, but I do believe they should be fair and designed to give everyone equal opportunity.
  16. Froggy, you know far better than to post such drivel. I’m in a good mood though so I give you a little bite. Your payroll is which is also very important for FFP is also ridiculous as your lashing triple our highest salary on Rashford, Casimero etc, you’ve spent huge sums consistently over the years, this isn’t me complaining I couldn’t careless I’m just stating facts. Tying spending to revenue benefits you lot more than any other club in the league as you have very large legacy revenues from being the most commercially successful team 10 years ago. And seriously, let’s not pretend you lot could compete if the Saudis actually could spend; nobody could.
  17. Nah, it’s pennies to be very frank. But what can we do the league has protectionist rules in place to prevent competition.
  18. Hoping you lot pay up as soon as possible so we can fuck him off and get paid. Id hope for some speculation regarding his replacement but our journalist are pretty clueless.
  19. Naaaa he was, job hopping aside his reputation is second to none.
  20. I’m not sure why some quarters are shocked this by the figures quoted. Given what we paid for him. I think two things were obvious from the outset. 1, this was always going to be expensive for them. 2, If they wanted to waive his garden leave it would be eye wateringingly expensive.
  21. I don’t think it’s quite so simple though is it? As had been mentioned Brentford are data led and this comes from the owner. If Giles has access to this and can implement it here then crack on and let’s get him in.
  22. Seeing man united fans gush over liverpools former backroom staff is bizarre as fuck.
  23. What don’t you get? He’s still under contract with us.
