  1. Despite Eddie deflecting id be shocked if anyone else is deciding other than him. He has the final say remember?
  2. The problem with just pay them is we would have ended up short. Would folks have described a window of Trafford 40m, Joao Pedro 60m and Elanga for 55m as enough? The reason they have budgets per player is to ensure we get everything we need. For me, the initial targeting has been the issue too, its too narrow I understand why it's that way and I'm not going to knock anyone for it.
  3. Zero, let go of the copium blanket, the theory which your pedaling never made any sense. We have competitor's which are also pushing as this window has demonstrated. Us just being a little better is no where near enough. It's why I'm always banging on about the clubs finances, and asking what are the ownership doing. Why is Steve harper in charge of the academy etc. The point being, we've lucked out way into an elite manager however the big caveat he has is he's like a particular profile of player which is really difficult for us to obtain as a club. As for the rest of it nothing else is best in class or even approaching it.
  4. This was our best chance to kick on, instead we've stood still whilst others have spent like mad. Meanwhile the gap which we need to bridge in terms of revenue isnt closing. We are basically stuck from a macro perspective and this is why people are concerned. We have deep structural issues are extremely difficult to sort. Truthfully we probably need to revise down our expectations to match this reality as "number 1" is so far away.
  5. I've seen KI railing against the clubs need to "lowball" and I think it's a bit unfair. We aren't a cartel and obviously have a limited budget. We can't just pay what clubs are asking for. This is obviously compound by our preference to place an emphasis on buying players from the most expensive league in the world. We are in a really tricky position as a club, stuck between a rock and a hard place if you will.

We didn't promise this and we offered him a new deal he refused.
  7. They are in a one horse race. Winning the league for them is the minimum.
  8. They can do dumb stuff like this because they have no competition. They spend so much and achieve very little.
  9. I think it's the lack of awareness of others budgets and plans that's been lacking. As I've said a million times everyone is targeting the same profile of players, by nature of our position we have to take more risks, it's not too late though let's hope we are reviewing and changing.
  10. I think we over estimated our pull, I'm not blaming Eddie the man is a legend but it's obvious these are his preferred options. Obviously the vacuum above him leads to this but we are in a bind and one that we don't really have a way out of. Eddie has earnt his power, nobody would doubt that but it's that same power which has lead us being embarrassed all summer long.
  11. This is more encouraging than i expected which is reassuring. Given our status with Adidas the merch side is what id expect but it's good we are still being advertised.
  12. @McCormicki mentioned you yesterday as I'm curious if we have any sort of visibility in Saudi at all? Your insight is appreciated.
  13. It's important to remember that we still get to decide if we sell and whom too. If we enable this behaviour and sell to them we, as a club deserve it.

    Won't be much more.
  15. He might end up staying ultimately our agreement is needed. What we know is he wants to leave and he will be leaving at some point. Will he play for us this season? Maybe but it's just a matter of time until he goes. Hes literally chosen the nuclear option here.
  16. It's obvious man, they literally waited for everyone to spend all of the money they have before making this move. No competition means the price is driven down. This wasn't spontaneous at all.
  17. 2 strands to this imo. 1, our manager has a preference for players with premier league experience and club has a preference for younger player. The total of these preferences = expensive and sought after by the cartel whom we really can't compete with. 2, it's much easier for clubs with zero ambition to take risk on these players than it is for us.

We are doing it by the book. This is what it looks like. Ask @Froggy
  19. So you reckon he decide to jump the shark on a whim with absolutely zero plan? It sounds implausible to me. I believe they he and Liverpool knew we either wouldn't sell this summer or the cost would be beyond them so in order to make of happen he'd have to agitate to get us to the table. I think this is where we currently are. Liverpool are quite relaxed because they know many mugs exist who will happily take the mid they have for Canny fees.
  20. This isn't true. We had massive loss in the first two years of the takeover.
  21. They dont have to balance the books for 2 years though. You think Isak has kicked off like this without an exit and planned out? The remaining job is to make us bend over.
