Was just thinking how villa have essential got this large temporary squad by selling someone akin to Gordon and replacing them with Malen (who's nothing special) and a bunch of very expensive loans. If they decide to make the loans permanent the wage balloons another 600k at least (this figure would require all of the loanees to take cuts btw) and require transfer fees which would cost more than they got for Duran. Obviously what they Have done is powerful in the short term and in that specific context but I prefer our approach personally. Although I would love for us to actually do a better job managing FFP. we gave away by trading Anderson and not some random academy kid.

Of course it does. Loans are not free and as you are well are it's very much an ffp game for us and villa as our ambition is larger than our budget. If villa don't get champions league then this borrowed squad depth will be a failed gamble. And I agree with you we've done incredibly well to be where we are if anything my mild disappointment is with our owners and board because they are slow

As I said rashford is borrowed Asencio is borrowed diasi is borrowed. Yes the players they have borrowed have boosted the squad but this was purely done because our owners gave them a bag for Duran. And all of these players are on massive wages I might add. Sure this result sucks and in the short term they have an edge but they will have to aggressively trade to maintain it and our players have had a day off today our best players are better than villas.

Nope a game which highlights home advantage an extra days rest and a Saudi bailout. Don't over react the squad they have is borrowed and nothing special and extremely expensive. The way they deal with ffp is short term gambles we are more pragmatic about things.
