That part is true but I don't think it alters who we went for? I guess the arguement is it encourages better forward planning. But even then, we are really bad at forward planning, all of these bairns we've brought in don't seem to have much of a development plan

Yes but selling players frees up money to buy more players. As does avoiding inflated markets.

I hear you on that. I think from where I sit, if we have players who aren't interested in playing for us then generally speaking that falls on the manager. You bring a new manager in those scenarios to either make them listen or ship them out. People like to bring Fergie up when longevity is mentioned but one of the factors behind his longevity was that absolute ruthlessness. If you didn't listen to him you were out.
