José is like worst case Appointing him is an admission we know absolutely fuck all.

Fair but that's on example in a ffp period over COVID. It may seem irrelevant but club finances around the league were more constrained, Tonali being an Italian midfielder who traditional haven't done well in England was also a gamble (no pun intended). Those targets though, we're pretty much telegraphed and it was obvious they were going elsewhere imo.
-
It was ill give you that. As time has passed I do understand it though. Obviously they saw Hopinkson as exactly what they want and it took time to get him, on the surface that's actually logical as he's been head or commercial at real Madrid and worked at huge sporting franchises his whole career. To me, and you may disagree but the Mitchell situation is obvious he simply lost the power battle and went. Unless we targeted different players it didn't actually make much difference imo. When I look at the players we missed out on, all of them went to more prestigious clubs and having a sporting director talk to them would have made precisely zero difference. The rest is entirely up to interpretation and how much we believe Eddie is involved in things.

Yeah we were but isn't it odd the junior handles the incomings? I really don't think anyone has spun anything I didn't see @Menacedispite the lack or a sporting director or CEO.
-
That's not my wording but I'm taking brought in as promoted to deal with incomings which has what has been widely reported. It's also important to note that Andy Howe wasn't on the so called committee when the other players were brought in.
-
Eh Andy Howe arrived when his uncle did or shortly after.
-
According to reposts Andy Howe was heading up our incoming last summer. Nickson was in charge of outgoings.
-
I think the argument made is the effort he had to make coordinating our transfer business. That being said I tend to agree with your take. The alternatives of Mitchell should have stuck around and just signed who Eddie wanted is unrealistic given Mitchell was technically his boss. The other alternative narrative which is a better SD would have got our first choices is also unlikely imo.

Some will be fine and supportive some will blame the fans.

At this stage, we just need someone who can actually achieve where our budget is, weather that's Eddie or someone else I don't know.
-
Nah. He only recoups it they win the champions league. They don't need Kane to win the domestic league.
-
Yikes, head will be turned again so we can expect another year of absolute shit from if he stays
-
He's got a big reputation I imagine he will have better options than us.
-
Just need to get Trafford in for the full set of top shaggers.
-
Newcastle are stepping up their interest in William Gomes. The Porto winger gains quite a few 'girlfriends' for the summer, especially from the Premier League and Spain. It will not leave for less than €50M. Everything will be decided after the World Cup.

Bring back the brain-dead rumours thread

It's so fucking fake man, really can't stand him.

Eh you really believe that? Ashworth couldn't wait to get away is that the fault of PIF? As for AS we should remember YAR offered her the CEO job and she turned it down and also not to mention the our run in with PSR. The rules prevent us from spending to our capacity so we've had to take another path unfortunately, we lost 90m in the last financial year (if you take out the stadium swap) so without that we'd have breached.
-
My point is one doesn't happen without the other.
-
They are basically asset managers. They hire what they deem to be the best to take care of it. Hence why they have chosen Hopkinson. It's quite clear they want to drive revenue at this point as they know that's what needed for us to push forward.
-
Yeah but you also called them poor owners which is the equivalent of calling Howe a poor manager. Neither are the case here.
-
The criticism is fair they have been slow, but I must say absolutely nothing of what we've seen has been possible without them.
